Pros

Good salary for most roles. Decent benefits. In the main, wonderful people and hugely talented staff.

Cons

If your face fits at Guinness, then things are great. You get roles created for you (without them being advertised), opportunities to grow and step up and make a name for yourself. If your face doesn't fit, then you'll get zero opportunities. Stuck in the same role, at the same level. Told you don't have the experience to step up, but get given no opportunity to get that experience. You'll get more and more work dumped on you, picking up things that aren't your responsibility - usually with minimal thanks and no reward. Morale can be very low, because the staff who are amazing at their job don't get recognised for it and often feel used and 'dumped upon'. Far too much upper management taking too long to make decisions because they don't trust their staff to do their jobs without close scrutiny. And some of those are management with limited experience in the teams they manage and have no idea how to do the day to day job. If an opportunity comes up in a team, they'll often not replace the role, expecting others to pick up the work. Or they won't give the opportunity to anyone internal to step up, choosing to bring someone new in. The ones that moan the loudest get rewarded. The ones that keep quiet and get on with doing a great job get disappointed and let down.

Pros

The pay is good and some people are lovely.

Cons

- Extremely process heavy, micro-managing organisation, sometimes it's difficult to believe the hoops you need to get through to achieve something basic. - The Head Of of my team was unbearable. He was too difficult to work with and had really made life difficult for rest of the team members. He is a buzzword leader. He created so many processes, contracts, policies, and strategic approaches; never truly listened to anyone and threw people under the bus for his fallouts- it was really difficult. Thanks God I am out!
