Pros
I met some really great people during my time at Thor, who I still speak with post-working there. Definitely a company on the right path, the true definition of hyper-growth and I am absolutely certain they will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming future.
Cons
When I first joined, the world was sold to me. Now looking back at it, I was only given a piece of grass. Through the entire onboarding process they were talking about a 'hybrid working' setup, guaranteed trips with the team (regardless of performance) and a 'human approach' to management. Little did I know before I signed, 'hybrid working' only includes the people who are senior. Trips are only guaranteed if you bill a certain amount, or if you are a favourite of the managers. But worst of all the managing style is the furthest thing from human. When I first started, I lost somebody very close to me and I was basically told to forget about grieving and focus on work 'because that's what they would have wanted' (how insensitive is that), I was pulled up on almost every action/ inaction and had my character questioned from the beginning, which was un-comfortable to deal with, especially when adjusting to a new company. I thought this was just my own individual experience before I left, but have found out that this was a more common pain, shared by colleagues at Thor. I've worked under difficult managers before my time here, but due to mis-communicated expectations, lack of trust in employees ability / autonomy, lack of empathy shown to people who are going through tough times and an all around lack of that 'human' quality, the upper management at Thor definitely shows its lack of maturity and youth. However, having said all that, I would like to make clear that the individual team leads/ managers are great, but it only takes one to sour the taste in peoples mouths.
