Abysmal culture and Management.

Pros

Absolutely zero. Do not work here.

Cons

I left earlier this year. Management are absolutely abysmal. Training staff are awful. They made a group of 5 of us feel super uncomfortable even from day 1. Managers have zero managerial skills. There is an overwhelming toxic culture with cliques of people who showed absolutely no effort in learning new peoples names, giving them nicknames which at some points, some new starters found very distasteful. The team leaders in particular are very difficult to deal with. If you aren’t performing for whatever reason, whether that be due to being a bit ill or any mental health concerns, they did not care, often ostracising you and making you feel like you are worthless. I have worked a within a couple of other recruitment firms where the work life balance was brilliant. Thor’s work life balance is literally non-existent. Even to the point where some were “encouraged” to come in during lockdowns. They also get touchy when you go home at, what they literally consider, the end of the day. Zero confidentiality. Zero trust with near enough everyone working there. The “learning and development” section of the company ignore all your frustrations and basically lie to others within the company about you. I found out a number of positive reviews on glassdoor were made from people who work there still and were given certain “benefits” in doing so. So dont trust any of the good reviews. This company is abysmal. Rubbish management. Rubbish training. Absolutely appaling sense of empathy or compassion from anyone. Last thing I would say, a lot of staff have left in my time due to them being pitted against each other, as if it was a game to the managers. Literally cannot believe I gave this company any time of my life. Cannot think of more than 2 people who left in my time on good terms. Stay away. If I could give them zero stars I would. Fortunately now I am in a happier place, but my time there was anything but. Absolute joke of a company. I’m sure they will be ready to copy and paste their usual “employee welfare is our number one priority” response like they have done on a number of other negative reviews.

Pros

Ability to create some good relations, and very sociable crowd.

Cons

A highly sociable culture at Thor turns out to have its cons such as: toxic cliques, particularly within management, internal romantic relationships and an excess of gossiping. Despite my experience, I initially didn't bother writing a review, until I learned, that current employees are trying to pin less positive glassdoor reviews on former employees. I would consider the reasons to why I am so worried about negative reviews, rather than trying to figure out who to blame for your ''misfortune''. Negative stories would travel from the c-suite about past employees and their ''wrongdoings''. So it seems as if there is no such thing as an amicable exit after all. COVID-19 was most certainly not followed according to gov guidelines. I was personally asked to show up with a negative PCR just the day after having been in contact with what I learned was several active cases in the office. No attention was brought to the incubation period or isolation. Ultimately I contracted Covid like many others. In my experience, there’s a facade to uphold at Thor, in order to appear as a “best place to work”. Some people may be enjoying it (good for them), whilst the rest asking questions, appear to be villainised and not welcomed into the cocoon.

Thor Response

We are disappointed to see this review as employee welfare has always been our main priority at Thor. Since the pandemic hit across the world, we have done our best to protect our workforce whilst operating as a business. With that being said, COVID-19 brought a lot of unprecedented experiences and challenges. We acknowledge that we didn't get everything right the first time, but based on feedback and a great willingness to improve, we have implemented new policies that we believe will make us an even better place to work. We know that the sales and recruitment industry isn't for everyone and wish you the best in your future career.

Pros

I met some really great people during my time at Thor, who I still speak with post-working there. Definitely a company on the right path, the true definition of hyper-growth and I am absolutely certain they will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming future.

Cons

When I first joined, the world was sold to me. Now looking back at it, I was only given a piece of grass. Through the entire onboarding process they were talking about a 'hybrid working' setup, guaranteed trips with the team (regardless of performance) and a 'human approach' to management. Little did I know before I signed, 'hybrid working' only includes the people who are senior. Trips are only guaranteed if you bill a certain amount, or if you are a favourite of the managers. But worst of all the managing style is the furthest thing from human. When I first started, I lost somebody very close to me and I was basically told to forget about grieving and focus on work 'because that's what they would have wanted' (how insensitive is that), I was pulled up on almost every action/ inaction and had my character questioned from the beginning, which was un-comfortable to deal with, especially when adjusting to a new company. I thought this was just my own individual experience before I left, but have found out that this was a more common pain, shared by colleagues at Thor. I've worked under difficult managers before my time here, but due to mis-communicated expectations, lack of trust in employees ability / autonomy, lack of empathy shown to people who are going through tough times and an all around lack of that 'human' quality, the upper management at Thor definitely shows its lack of maturity and youth. However, having said all that, I would like to make clear that the individual team leads/ managers are great, but it only takes one to sour the taste in peoples mouths.
