Pros

Hard to get fired (no one has gotten fired over being a bit late) Flexible and laid back schedule if time off is needed. Work in a new site and city everyday potentially. A sense of freedom, not locked in an office or warehouse all day.

Cons

Pay is lacking. Paid the same for easy job or job that takes hours more to complete. No compensation for harder work. No pay for travel time. Jobs not ready or sites a mess and no compensation. Managed by bosses who have never worked construction and they have unreasonable and at times laughable expectations. Their response to not getting jobs don't is "we have to want to work" 90% of the time no matter what the reason is even if it's legitimate. Their motto is "Safety First" and they are big on safety in meetings and I'm sure board meetings. However the tools are lacking and unsafe at times, especially scaffolds which are the most dangerous equipment. They will complain and reprimand over safety glasses but won't fix unsafe scaffolds which could seriously injure or kill us. It makes no sense.
