Pros
Teaching for such a prestigious university looks great on a resume, and it's a great community to be associated with. Tulane is making actionable strides towards equity, diversity & inclusion for faculty, staff & students. During COVID, they are also requiring COVID testing every couple of weeks, even if you teach entirely remotely, leveraging the size & influence of their organization to keep the New Orleans community safer.
Cons
As a part-time Adjunct Professor for the School of Professional Advancement, you are contracted to teach on a per-semester basis. You are paid a set amount for the entire semester, with payments distributed on a monthly basis throughout the semester. I'm afraid to actually try to calculate my true hourly rate, given all of the time that goes into class prep, grading and admin tasks. This job is definitely more about the love of teaching & the prestige of having Tulane University on my resume rather than the money.
