Pros
Kontagent is located in a beautiful office downtown San Francisco with 360 degree views of the city. They go to a lot of effort to hire great people, which includes a full day of interviews, a skills test, a personality fit exam, and lunch with some current employees. Everyone that you talk to at Kontagent will tell you that they love their job. And it is, I loved it when I worked there. The pay was competitive (though slightly below market -- this might have changed), the benefits were good, and best of all its just fun working with great people.
Cons
Kontagent has a secret "try-before-you-buy" approach that they do not disclose during interviews. I only know this is in effect for Account Management / "Customer Success" positions, but its possible this could be in effect for other positions as well. Here's what they do: the first month of your employment you're allowed to settle in and learn the ropes. This is normal and you'll have that "new hire high". By the second month, your performance will start to be graded. You might get told that there are some things you need to work on, but by and large it will seem like simple critiques rather than a quarterly performance review. After two - three months, if you haven't "passed" their internal benchmarks, whatever they may be (it will not be apparent to you what they are), you will be taken into an office at the end of a full workday and be told they have made the decision to let you go. No feedback, no proof of any wrongdoing or ineptitude....just a cobra packet and a check.
