Cons
Oh boy, where to begin. In a nutshell, the business side of the company needs a massive change on the executive leadership team. As has been stated here before, the vast majority of these positive reviews are fake news. You hear about watching out for “toxic people” or “cancer” in the workplace. Verkada IS the cancer. The place is toxic in a way you’ll never experience anywhere else. Zero care for the customer, zero care for the employees and zero care for the health of the business. If you have more than 1 year experience in any capacity, this place is a step backwards. If you’re a tenured rep, don't even think about it. With the deepest of sincerity...it's all lies. Reach out to some previous reps on LinkedIn and I bet it won’t take a day to get some real feedback on the condition and legitimacy of this place. Most people would not burn an ex employer, but watch what comes back. Verkada will provide you ZERO benefit. It will not pay you anything remotely close to what they say and that's also well documented on this board. You have recruiters here saying how fraudulent it is. This place will not train you, mold you, grow you, stretch you, inspire you or pay you…it will provide you nothing that will further your career or development. If this place is a “rocket ship” the name on the side says Challenger. Less than 30% of reps hit the quarterly quota and less than 5% of the higher divisions hit consecutive qtrs. That's less than 1/20 of their most tenured sales force making quota 2 qtrs in a row. Its a place that breeds failure and the employee churn is the direct proof. If a company is a rocket ship and people are successful, why would 70% leave or be let go within their first 2yrs? You think 70% of Google or Apple's first 3000 employees self selected within 1-2yrs of starting there? You will be infinitely micromanaged on KPI’s that are laughably uncorrelated to driving the business. You’ll be told they hire 9/10 talent, but then they’ll handcuff you to working with the channel and the channel strategy is a joke. The attribution methodology is flawed so they skew their own internal metrics to show impact of the channel while avoiding the reality the channel is a failure. Despite being 100% channel focused (meaning they will not sell direct), less than 3% of the actual revenue is generated from the channel because a vast majority most of the channel sales are actually the Verkada reps throwing the channel a bone in hopes of a return. Problem is the channel hates Verkada (because of it's tactics, strategy and churn) and so the return isn't happening. The channel costs Verkada 10x what it brings in, but they are going to ride that decision to the grave (or until a leadership change). It's an awful sales model and the reps leave because they don't make any $ and they know it doesn't work. Note as well, the channel partners have lit up company leadership in public at the strategy they employ, so it's not just the sales reps who have an issue here. Lastly, even the very few (and I mean in a salesforce of 1000+ lifetime hired reps we are talking less than 30 reps) who have made really good $$, even these folks are absolutely miserable. Staying because they are handcuffed to illusionary carrots (stock options) that will never come close to the promised riches they prognosticate. They promise diamonds, but they pay in sand. You can do better than Verkada, I promise.
