Pros
Starting out during the Summer Semi-Annual sale, I was able to pick up a lot. Learning the difference between Victoria's Secret and Pink. I suggest working for a VS & Pink store combined because you receive "gratis" aka ways to learn your product from both stores. Everyone loves the products which makes it interesting to see everyone's different ways of styling the clothes. I was a Pink Girl sales associate and during our floor sets, we would receive gratis floor sets so bra, panty, pants and shirt. The discounts and gratis would be the only way I would work there again!
Cons
The main challenge I had was the concept of the Sales Per Average Hour(SPAH) . Being a full time student, my availability was only at night. A sales associate would have an expectation for selling a given amount per hour. If you exceed your goal, then you receive a portion of what you brought in, but if you miss the mark even by a couple of dollars, you get penalized. This caused competition and aggressive coworkers. Working mainly nights hurt my SPAH because the pay code you were clocked into took the average of your sales that you were working. They would guilt you for not staying but you are worried about your SPAH. SPAH also includes exchanges and returns from whenever a client comes in which can make or break that month. Towards the end of my time there, it seemed to be a lose, lose situation. Either you are stuck closing with a manager lecturing you about how you need to constantly be recovering during your shift while maintaining your SPAH OR you recover your area your entire shift to leave on time and disregard selling as much as you can.
