Re: management response which was made after the ability to edit my previous review expired.
I’d suggest any prospective employees ask management when the last engineer was promoted who is still in the business and didn’t leave straight after being ‘promoted’ :) at the time of writing it was 2+ years ago. A couple of people were promoted after being severely underpaid and under-appreciated, the new roles did not provide adequate compensation for their existing responsibilities so they moved on straight away.
Also to add, management just laid off all the QAs in the business, just in time for Christmas, after keeping them in limbo for 6 months telling them they’ll move into new roles but not providing any training, help or support whatsoever. Just in time for a completely dead Christmas job market.
Laying off the QA team further illustrates the current tech management’s inability or lack of desire to develop and grow the team and preference to replace people when they’re done with them.
I think this is really quite disappointing and contrasts with the company’s historic approach of supporting and caring about its employees and being a good place to work long-term. Job stability was one of the main draws to the company when I joined, but it doesn’t seem to be the case any more.
