Pros
Work-life balance is probably slightly better than the US average for software engineers. Quite a lot of capable and personable engineers to work with as co-workers.
Cons
If the company has a strategic vision beyond "sell more" it isn't ever communicated to employees. The software department's direction seems to change with the winds, individual teams are pretty isolated, and none of the various initiatives seem to be particularly coordinated across multiple teams.
