- During summer 2020, the 2 branches of the company were merged, and management keep saying for the whole time that nobody was going to be fired, although clearly there were overlaps. Management kept saying nobody was going to be fired even during the firings themself. The counter of the employes number in personio disappeared, to hide the numbers to the remaining employes. Probably they think people are stupid and not going to notice, since we are all working from home. Many people had their company chat disabled before being fired, to avoid write unpleasant things to colleagues. Some colleagues discovered people were fired because they didn't show up to a meeting scheduled the day before. - For all the people fired, the word "fired" has never been used. It was decided to let them go (like they were prisoners), or they decided to leave (after scheduling a meeting with me for the day after?) - About the work from home: this is great and was allowed and encouraged from day 1 of the pandemic. What is not clear is why the company continued ever since to rent 2 big floors in Barcelona and 2 (or 3? I don remember) floors in Berlin, despite the floors are empty, also it was said that after the pandemic was still possible to continue to work from home for who wants it. Following an internal investigation was clear that we don need multiple floors in neither office. They continues to be open (often with only 1 person inside), with heat and electricity turned on. Wasting money, energy, and making management look dumb. Specifically for the software developers joining the company, my advice is to look elsewhere. At the moment there is a big technology stack that is only maintained to carry on with the business as usual, but every big development or improvement on it is forbidden because there is a replacement being developed with more solid technology. The only issue is that: - the objectives of this new technology stack keep changing every week - the morale is at ZERO because of random people being fired despite doing a good job - CEO is a big kid which has no idea how to run a company. - I guess the investor money is finishing and this time they are not going to get more (unless investors are really stupid)
