Pros

Dedicated leadership, hires recent grads, opportunity to gain skills and experience.

Cons

For 4 months in the summer it is required for associates to work 60+ hours a week, Monday-Saturday knocking on doors asking for donations. Understandable that the funding has to come from somewhere, but going from 40 to 60+ hours with no increase in pay is simply unjust. Also, the canvass ends at 9pm (and then back to the office until 10pm), so expected to knock on doors, alone, in the dark.

Pros

You will love your coworkers. My peers from across the country were the coolest, most capable people i've meet in my entire life. You will be given real responsibility when you start. You will get to lobby elected officials and plan large public events.

Cons

Low pay- for my role, in the summer I transition from white collar office work (40 hrs/wk) to 60 hours a week canvass directing, with no increase in pay, no overtime. The travel is exhausting. It all very last minute, very corner cutting, and with no per diem. Asking for reimbursement for the uber to airport is exhausting. When traveling, its long hours and expecated that you go to eat as group, and pay your own way. For most people in my role, they expect you to move across the country for the summer with no moving assistance or pay increase. I was the singular Black employee in the entire nation, and not a single Latino person works at the company (on a staff level, the short term hire and unpaid interns are much more diverse)
