Pros

I joined Fastic back in September 2020 as employee #2 in the People team. My personal experience has been extremely positive and I have had the opportunity to really throw myself into the deep end being trusted to work not only where my strengths lie but to strengthen my weaknesses too. I have been given the opportunity to work across new areas within my field and gain not only new skills but knowledge that will progress my career further. Fastic is the most flexible organisation I have worked for. I have full control on how I do my work and where and when I do this. Work fits around my personal life and not the other way around. Contractually the working week is 40hours per week but we don't have set start or finish times, the focus is on output as opposed to hours work. Here in terms of day-to-day communication is async most of the time, sync when necessary. We use channels such as Slack, Gmail for communication and platforms such as Asana and Notion to collaborate and documentation. There is lots of time for focus, uninterrupted work with the introduction in 2022 of "No Meetings Wednesday's" and "Core Working Hours". The no meetings on a Wednesday gives me an additional 20% of uninterrupted working time per week to focus on execution or to use that day to focus on strategic or analytical topics. Core-working hours apply to Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri 10am-4pm CET which means no meetings happen before or after this time to better support a work-life-balance and allow more focused time or even parents the opportunity to organise their children in the morning and evenings. When introduced I found that these core-working hours set a clear standard and also improved response times. There really is no I in Team here. The team is the best thing about Fastic, I have never worked with such passionate individuals not only for the work they do but who really care for the product and to have impact. It's refreshing to step into meetings and to feel that everyone really makes the effort to connect, to give and get the full experience and to take responsibility individually to make Fastic truly a great place to work. I feel very supported by my colleagues, that people care about each-other on a personal level. The team events are great, I have had the opportunity to travel to various destinations across Europe to spend time not only within the People and C-Level Team but also the whole company. Once-a-year, we get together as a company for four days on what we call the Fastic Retreat (it's all paid for by the company). We recently met in Mallorca (it's typically a destination in Europe) where we spend days, eating, drinking, doing activities together from fitness through to wellbeing and workshops around team building. I always come away from these events inspired, feeling more connected and excited to get back to work. We also get together 2-3 times a year within individuals teams and I have had the opportunity to spend time in Madrid and Barcelona. There is also an office in Dresden where some of the team are based in terms of operations and we are always welcome there or to travel there with all costs covered whenever we wish. Monthly we also do virtual team events such as escape rooms which I personally host. There are a number of great benefits that have been added over the past 18 months my favourites being; - a monthly co-working budget - an additional day of paid leave per year, up until 30 days - option to take an additional 5 days unpaid leave per year if we wish In 2022, Fastic also introduced yearly salary reviews and a compensation model. It's great to know that my salary will not remain stagnant and is consistently on a yearly basis being reviewed with market rates to ensure it remains competitive and fair.

Cons

Working remotely has it pro's and con's, I do miss at times the day-to-day environment of and office such as after-work drinks. However Fastic do provide plenty of opportunities to get together multiple times a year and recently introduced a monthly co-working budget for me to change up my environment. The workload is high across all teams at current and it does lead to juggling or trying to balance prioritisation of equally important topics at one time.

Pros

- A fully remote company that gives you true freedom to work how you want organise yourself and your week. - The senior team are honest, open and approachable. They are always open to hear how we should improve and take the company to the next level. - I feel empowered to do my job and when there are times i am have any doubts, all it takes a short conversation with my team and manager to resolve this. - The company is aware that its difficult to stay connected as a fully remote business, so they plan to organise regular team trips to get us altogether. - I've never worked in a company that uses so few emails! It's a breathe of fresh air. - Processes are introduced when they are needed and not because everyone else does them. This is great for a PM as we can introduce what we need at the right time. Start simple and evolve over time to how best we work together.

Cons

- We can get into a habit of speaking 1:1 too much. This is especially problematic for a remote working company. In fairness, this has been recognised and more group slack channels are being created. But right now, communication and knowledge sharing could be improved - If you like a company that provides a solid structure with clear cut processes, this might not be the place for you. We work in chaos much of the time. I for one thrive in it (to a degree) but its not for everyone. Processes are gradually being put in place to handle key problems so we'll get there. - Sometimes i'm not sure if we're always working on the most important things to achieve our business goals. Thankfully, the senior management are open to hearing feedback and i do feel we are heard. - As a fully remote working business, we could probably do more to help people separate work from home life.

Thank-you for sharing, we will take onboard the constructive feedback you have shared. We really appreciate this and look to continually improve our methods of communication and working culture. As a fast scaling start up this is always a work in progress, processes can take a bit of time to catch up but with transparency and feedback like the above together we can get there. 🚀
