Pros

FedEx pays me a good salary and benefits, very nice building with gym and cafeteria. If you are an intern and you do a good job, they will hire you. If you are a contractor and do a good job, if there is an opening they will hire you. I know this because I started out as a contractor. I worked very hard, applied for all the openings they had, and I was hired permanently. My salary almost doubled. FedEx is one of the few companies in Pittsburgh that don't do layoffs. They offer pension 401K and tuition reimbursement. Most of the managers are good. There are many different awards given, so acknowledgement is given for hard work! Lots of internal training programs, volunteer opportunities, good employee discounts, work from home days (they are very flexible with working parents). always room for promotion and lots of opportunities available. If you are unhappy in your current position, you can switch teams/products you work on. It's almost like getting a new job but you don't lose your seniority. If you are lucky enough to get a good manager (what manager you have counts for a lot), then this will probably be one of the best companies you have ever worked for.

Cons

Only one Con but its big and the reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars - OFFSHORING WORK. I know everyone is doing it, but its a very bad idea and has a negative impact on the employees.. From the quality of work I have seen and heard about, FedEx has to be losing money on this.

Pros

The benefits and worklife balance are excellent at FedEx. Without question this is the best place I've worked as far as that goes. The ability to move around in the company and grow is also quite good. I've now had three careers at FedEx and they have generously paid for my education while preparing for the latest. Their policy of promoting from within means that a lot of people I know have had opportunities to grow in ways they could not imagine.

Cons

Innovation takes time. Paperwork and procedures are somewhat complex and getting moreso all the time. This may be occurring at other firms as well, but it seems especially difficult here.
