Pros

Mostly nice people Decent benefits Work life balance

Cons

A lot of the favorable reviews were solicited from inside the firm to bump up the rating. Often promoted people unqualified for the job. Poor workplace culture - staff are treated as second class citizens by attorneys. Bad pay structure.

Pros

The firm itself has an excellent reputation. Their pay and benefits are fair and competetive. They offer as much training in computer programs as employees are willing to take advantage of.

Cons

The firm's reputation is rapidly declining among legal support staff within the legal community. The firm's management holds "state of the firm" meetings for the support staff and outright mislead the staff. Massive layoffs are constant even though the "state of the firm" tell us it is profitable and layoffs are not expected. There is absolutely NO job security, resulting in very low morale. VERY low morale. There is an underlying knowledge amongst the staff that the HR/Management Committe cannot be trusted, so no one is willing to confront or discuss concerns for fear of repercussions. When layoffs ARE made, it is amazing that they lay off (fire) the most talented and keep the ones that you wonder how they ever secured a job there in the first place. Maybe it is because the less talented are willing to work for less. I know many secretaries who have been offered file clerk positions at a huge paycut as an option to being let go, but because the market has been down, they are almost forced to take the cut. The secretaries there now have to cover at least four attorneys per person. At that rate, no one can excel or become invaluable or secure their position by working well with their attorney, since attorney-secretary assigment changes are made so often.

Pros

a little better than no job at all

Cons

the computer program is a disaster. Takes 1/2 minute just to open an email. NOTHING works right. spend 40% of time troubleshooting. One person got a $.5 MILLION bonus, and 80% of other salaries were cut?!?!? What is wrong with this picture?
