Pros

Pre-acquisition: Great company culture with a ton of collaboration across teams. Upper management always responsive to your needs. Could talk to them whenever you want, about anything. Progressive industry in multiple business units. Great benefits and pay.

Cons

All post acquisition: Upper and Executive Management all friends and family. A toxic, arrogant, “bro” culture where you are promoted on tenure and ass-licking. Scandals emerged about illicit relationships between management as well as ‘jokey’ comments made in a direct violation of HR policy. Competency of management completely lacking. In the position because they were buddies with the higher ups. Micro-management, controlling style. Defensive when confronted. Shocking pay. Company tried to run before it could walk. Implemented processes and policies which completely screwed clients. No focus on Retention of clients. Or people. Benefits reigned in. No RRSP matching. Dental reduced. Vision eliminated.

Pros

- You go out to eat about once a month but aren't allowed to buy alcohol and they don't tip the waiting staff so it is very embarrassing - Most employees are foreign, fresh out of school or management. The turn over rate is extremely high so you don't get many people who have been there for over two years and thus there is a bit of a "this place is terrible but at least it is terrible with good people" vibe. Almost comparable to being in the trenches in the military.

Cons

- The bonus structure is changed yearly to avoid paying out. I'm friends with former employees from way back so I assume this has been going on for years. - The will constantly ask for favors and overtime. They will not provide a day in lieu or overtime unless you ask in advance and when you ask in advance they will typically say "okay, I'll message you if I still need you" and then they will ask someone else who hopefully doesn't bring up a day in lieu or overtime. - The project managers, account managers are generally personal friends with little to no IT experience and thus things that should be called a project, get labelled a ticket, this causes client expectations to be all over the place, not to mention the client isn't billed properly so it's a bit frustrating to hear "sorry no room in the budget for a raise or bonus" when the project manager above you runs a blog on cooking, has a degree in film, no knowledge of IT but they make 70 grande plus a year while you make 35 and live in the ghetto, yet you have to set up the equipment, you have to support it and you're the one who explains who reasonable the mistakes of the project manager were because the project manager has no idea what they are talking about.

Pros

Work from home was nice.

Cons

You wanna have FM show their true colors? Resign. After working there for years, I didn't get a single farewell or recognition from the c-suite team whom I worked very closely with when I gave my notice. I gave my blood sweat and tears into the position and company, and didn't get anything in return. They don't care about losing staff, including high performers who immensely improved processes to BENEFIT FM. At the end of the day, everything they say about culture and being treated as family is all an utter lie. You couldn't pay me to return back.
