I worked at Garmin full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Nice office location? That's it!

    Cons

This must have been my worst work experience in my 10 year career, absolutely traumatizing - the HR and management has no respect for staff and treats them like disposable garbage. Terrible work culture, very old-fashioned approach resulting in poor team morale and massive staff turnover. The management is extremely disorganised and has no idea how to run a business. Everyone there is so unhappy and undervalued! The pay is just disappointing and there's no realistic progression path. Avoid this place at all cost!

I have been working at Garmin full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Location in the New Forest is a bonus

    Cons

Maybe the US branch is better, but the UK is terrible. Flexible working, widely available in other companies, doesn't exist at Garmin UK. Working environment is very cliquey and preferential. The line management is detached from the floor and engages with few favourite employees rather than the whole team. The pay is low compared to other companies in the South Coast (for the same role).

I have been working at Garmin full-time for less than a year

    Pros

colleagues are the only ones that make work life good

    Cons

staff hugely under appreciated, salaries not in line with market. Benefits used to be really good then they changed the contract so now new employees get a really bad deal - pensions went from 8% down to 2%, no bonus and end of year increases are reduced, so don't even keep up with standard inflation - HR do not support the staff as they should have more interest in running the business than being the advocates they should be

    I worked at Garmin full-time

    Pros

For Southampton, relatively good pay. Looks good on your CV? Staff discount, but how many running watches do you really need?

    Cons

A really unpleasant and unprofessional place to work. The staff are largely split between long-standing employees (10-15 years service), and those that leave after 1-2 years. Problem staff moved around departments and allowed to continue their behavioural patterns (sexual harassment, tardiness, low productivity). Several rogue senior managers in continental Europe who seem to be unmanagable by EMEA HR, resulting in a cycle of employ, grievance, resign, pay-off. Lots of infighting between EMEA staff, and in-country staff. EMEA management seem permanently at odds with US management, which is a fatal mistake if you've ever worked for a US Corporation. No sense of 'We are Garmin' - strictly silo working. I didn't notice that colleagues really cared for the brand - there wasn't the sense of pride or enthusiasm that I would expect from a successful consumer electronics lifestyle company.

I worked at Garmin full-time for less than a year

    Pros

My colleagues made the job bearable as in most call centers I suppose. Also the free product loan is great to try out their newest gadgets. Good canteen its hot meals as well as sandwiches etc

    Cons

Timed toilet breaks (max 1 hour per month), no socializing allowed in office, too much focus on quantities instead of quality, big turnover of staff (3-6 new people every month but no new desks needed...), very hierarchical, people are not happy (but at least everyone's not happy together)

I worked at Garmin full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

In fighting allowed to prevail across EMEA. Decisions made at strategic level and ignored at local level with no recourse. Too many personal agendas. Staff asked to constantly do more and more for no recognition and limited pay. An attitude of arrogance that people want to work at Garmin rather than it being a mutual partnership between employee and employer

    Cons

Passionate team of people who work in the organisation. Committed to helping customers from warehouse, customer service to the sales teams on the front line. Great pipeline of innovation always coming through.
