Pros

Geosearch was bought out in October 2011 by Empirica. It's a solid company with good benefits and great people!

Cons

Workload can get heavy at times but that can happen anywhere.

Pros

Geosearch is a great place to work for entry level geologists. Those with their masters or those with lots of expereince have a lot of opportunity to move up quickly to help the company expand. They are the only company in our industry that has a good training program in place. Most companies just send you out in the field with no training. Geosearch actually takes the time for classroom training and OJT in the field. All new trainees must pass an evaluation before being able to hold their own tour. Geosearch is also one of the only mudlogging companies with the most benifits. Most mudlogging companies don't offer anything. Geosearch has health, dental, life, vacation, 401K and many others. Those that work hard, there are tons of opportunites to move up. I always find the ones that do little are the ones that complain the most and never move up in the company. Geosearch is one company I have seen that rewards those who work hard personally. I have also seen the owner of the company help some of his employees families in need. My personal opinion is that it is a great company to work for. Geosearch still has a heart and you become a part of the family. While to other mudlogging companies you are just a number.

Cons

Because Geosearch is one of the fastest and largest mudlogging companies, we are always short in man power. So until more people are trained or more experienced loggers are hired it sometimes requires being away from home a lot. But that is what we sign on for. Geosearch is constantly upgrading their equipment to stay with only using the best equipment in our industry. But it also requires a lot of training and always learning new equipment. Also Geosearch is always expanding to new areas and it requires us to travel long distances sometimes to those willing to go. But if you want to move up you must show you are willing to be a teamplayer and help Geosearch as we are told by management.

Pros

The coworkers and my supervisor were all amazing. This was by far the best group I've ever worked with. I was able to advance and grow in my career with this position. I am thankful for that opportunity.

Cons

The sale of the company twice took it's toll on the office staff and the change in management was difficult at times. Eventually our department was shut down and moved to Corporate. If it weren't for that I would still be here.
