A disappointing experience

Pros

Non-management employees were typically bright, eager to work, and pleasant to work with. Pay was decent, and the offices were well appointed with all the tech startup creature comforts (snacks, ping pong table, video games, etc.)

Cons

Executive team is more concerned with shooting nerf guns and sending prank emails from unlocked computers than anything else. Keeping your head down and making little impact seemed to be the secret to surviving each round of layoffs. There's a rift between teams, lack of communication, little trust, and disorganization at the top will continue to be the biggest root cause. There was a constant elephant in the room due to a keen and widespread understanding of just how little was being sold.

Terrible place to work!

Pros

The other good people who have been caught in the trap.

Cons

Senior management creates most of the problems due to bad structure, bad people and investors who don't understand the situation. The products can't support the company in the niche space it plays in thus, the company has no money. Constant real and perceived threats of layoffs are around every corner.

Pros

-The Saint Louis development group was the best part of working at Gimmal. I was fortunate enough to not be fired like most of them. -Work/life balance is legitimately pretty good. -The workspace is really nice.

Cons

-Bad development practices. -Poor growth opportunities. -Terrible "raises". aka get ready for a yearly 1k raise. -Management that is swiftly bringing the company to the ground. -I survived two waves of layoffs. I hear another just took place. What a lovely work environment. -Unlimited PTO meant anything over 15 days needed special talks with the higher ups about why you were taking so many days off. Turns out, this is just done so they can save money when they fire you. -No transparency in plans.
