Pros

Great pay + benefits for the small size of team. The retreats are a BLAST- partying, karaoke, pool time, great food, etc and always fun places. With the small team size there's room to make a big impact here and I've met some of my closest friends at SCF/Going. Leaders really listen here, and are open to feedback. Even though we're remote I feel connected to the company. You're also allowed to work while traveling, so you can really embrace that digital nomad lifestyle :)

Cons

Gone are the days of being a high growth startup. Unfortunately, company outlook isn't positive and breezy like it used to be- we're more about pinching pennies over here now. We need folks who can put the pedal to the metal and grind- in true startup fashion. In the past, leaders weren't upfront about this and had policies like Flexible Fridays (now that policy is gone because people abused it) and had lofty goals that were impossible to reach but also tied employee bonuses to the goals. Sometimes it seems leadership is blindly throwing darts, trying to get something to stick that can make us money in addition to our subscription model. The unlimited PTO can be nice but its hard to get stuff done quarter to quarter when people are on vacation all the time. When the goal is to launch something in a quarter, and most of the team involved is taking several weeks PTO during that time, the timeline is hard to achieve. Some managers seem to just approve PTO, even if it conflicts with important launches + dates. In addition, there are always a dozen fires weekly to put out on the engineering side and not enough investment in our tech to prevent fires from happening later.

Pros

- Career opportunities are real; If you have an idea then you are encouraged to just run with it, build it, and make it happen - Hard work and ingenuity are praised here; Managers don't give cookie cutter shoutouts for skating along - We're actually a fully remote/distributed company all across the world and encourage folks from anywhere to work here - Retreats 2x a year are insanely fun and help you connect to co-workers and leadership - Work/life balance and PTO are prioritized; People really unplug during OOO and Flex Fridays - There are a lot of exciting changes and initiatives coming down the pipeline - None of that toxic green dot Slack culture; Lots of people set away permanently

Cons

- We are a smaller, self-funded company so the pay scale isn't as large as other companies - We've had some things to figure out as a business post rebrand which resulted in fragmented direction for a while - Not really a con but we are a lean team; Come prepared to ruthlessly prioritize and work hard

Wow, thank you for such a glowing and energizing review! It's fantastic to hear about your positive experience. Your enthusiasm for our retreats, the emphasis on work/life balance, and the innovative spirit that thrives within our team is contagious. It's clear from your feedback that while we're doing many things right, there are areas where we can and must do better. Your insights into the impact of our rebranding efforts and the realities of working within a lean team structure are invaluable. As a self-funded company, we face unique challenges. However, we see these not just as challenges but as opportunities to innovate, to rethink how we do things, and to strengthen our team. Your contributions and perspective are vital as we move forward, striving to enhance our workplace in every way possible. Your feedback reminds us of what makes Going special and reinforces the direction we are headed. Thank you for your dedication and contributions. We look forward to continuing this journey with you and all our amazing team members. Cheers to more success and growth together, Megan, VP Operations

Pros

Wonderful group of people all focused on the same mission. Going empowers me to collaborate, share ideas, feedback, etc... but I'm also appreciative of the fact that I'm trusted to also make decisions on my own as well.

Cons

Having great friends in different states :( On a serious note, no cons that I can think of at the moment.
