Pros

Great place if you want to get some banking experience. You okay both the teller and banker role, which is cool. They teach you about all types of loans, that will eventually give you experience for future banking jobs. My favorite part was learning my personal strengths with their Gallup quizzes.

Cons

The company is now a joke. The newest CEO Thomas Feindt is the WORST thing to ever happen to the credit union. His actions let you KNOW he is not supportive of you, or your opinions, and that we (as a company) are not a family anymore. Imagine not getting promoted because you voiced your opinion and the CEO didn’t like it. After working and being one of the best employees for over 10 years! Imagine getting fired over not getting vaccinated, even if you work from home! Imagine feeling like a target if you give your opinion and knowing your days are numbered. These are all decisions made by the CEO. The Florida and South Carolina regions are truly fed up with everything going on, and I think it’s time someone takes a stand against what is happening. I used to love being part of this company, I bragged about how great it was working for such a fun and caring organization. But now? It’s an embarrassment. I would not recommend this organization to ANYONE, even if you’re trying to gain some kind of banking experience. Start at a bigger bank, they’ll treat you better, even if you’re just another employee to them. It’s a shame how Thomas has turned this ENTIRE company into this hated workplace. Best of luck to the employees that are still there and working in fear, and to the members who have to deal with unhappy employees, as well as outdated apps and constant account issues.

Pros

I have worked within a few departments and really loved my coworkers. Grow Financial once was a great place to work.

Cons

I will start with the biggest cancer in the credit union and that is their beloved CEO Thomas Feindt. My words are sarcastic because he is actually very disliked, but his ego is too big to notice or care. It is evident to many that he is running Grow into the ground. How? He makes erratic decisions that are anything but bold and for the betterment of the organization as he would like one to think. If people don’t align with his progressive and liberalistic point of view, he finds ways to get rid of them (he mandated the vaccine and terminated several good employees) or simply lets it be known they don’t belong. He touts inclusivity, openness and empowerment, but instead is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and quite the opposite of who he says he is. He doesn’t want to hear anyone’s voice if their opinions are different from his, though he says his door is open for conversations concerning his crazy decisions. He will shut a conversation down in a heartbeat, but check the box that he allowed that conversation to happen. All he cares about is what image Grow Financial portrays to the community but he could care less about the quality, hardworking people within the organization, many of which have left. Speaking of quality, the quality of lower to upper level management has dwindled over the years, credit union wide. Its not hard to believe since the problem starts at the top. Many good and hardworking people have either gotten fired in recent months or have left on their own accord. The stores are especially suffering with poor leadership and very few internal candidates to promote. I also feel for the real estate and business departments. There is way too much to say or we’d be here all day, but they are suffering under the non-leadership of someone extremely inexperienced in both departments he “leads”. With the drive and expertise underneath him, both of these departments should be thriving, but instead people are unmotivated, leaving and no one seems to care. Is Grow Financial for you? It may be if you don’t have an opinion and enjoy coasting through your career. If putting your head down and ignoring the disasters all around you sounds ideal, it may be the place for you. Just know if you speak up about anything or show you have a spine, its the kiss of death and they will find a way to get rid of you.

Pros

Great 401k match. 1 hour lunch break. 1% employee discount for loans. AAA discount. If you are very cheerful and upbeat all the time and you like to hang out with your managers and co-workers outside of work, you will move up quickly. You can relax between calls in the call center, when we are well staffed the call queue is low.

Cons

Managers rule by fear. You have to be friendly and bubbly 24/7. Temporary departments and employees. You have to hang out with your co workers outside of work. Hard work and loyalty mean nothing, they will hire someone with no experience over their own employees who have been there 5+ years. Managers make sure you are aware that you can be replaced. They do not train well in most departments..alot of representatives are clueless. You are on your own when solving an issue with a clients account. The clients hate our guts, most calls are dreadful....not for anyone who is overly emotional.
