After reading previous reviews, I must agree with the majority that this place is managed with the most top-shelf brand of nepotism offered. If management doesn't personally like you or even know you (because you don't go out and drink or socialize with them) then you have no future at this company. The place is basically run by the "Mean Girls" of your high school. Your skill set and work ethic mean nothing. But dirty jokes and gossip, oh they will get you places. This is not a place of science. Some of the people making decisions have little to no educational/field experience. Many decision are based off of convenience or ego. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but the company does't like to admit when they are wrong...

Where to even begin. HR might be a nice place to start, though much of the problem (too many HR people, all friends of the head of HR) has been dealt with as HR is a sliver of the size it used to be (and could probably even be smaller). HR was a toxic place run by what amounted to a clique of sorority girls. I have never seen more inept people in positions of leadership than I see at HDL. The people who should be running the company have either been terminated by management through layoffs, left on their own terms, or are being bossed around by people who do not understand even the most basic management principles. The two biggest problems at the company are: 1. the egos running it that contribute to an extremely poisonous internal environment 2. the lack of understanding and external relationships (with insurance companies) by management on what they have to do in order to turn the company around.
