I have been working at Halliburton full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I imagine that Halliburton is just like any other company, if you have any kind of drive, you will be recognized. If you like to travel and see the world, Halliburton is a good place to work. I feel I've been treated fairly during my time with Halliburton. I've been fortunate enough to work in some good locations with good managers.

    Cons

Depending on the region, I have seen some employees that get treated very poorly. People don't leave companies, they leave managers. If you can identify managers that treat people fairly, as well as look after the bottom line, then you'll have successful work areas. Senior management seems to change fairly often, which makes some people nervous.

    Advice to Management

There isn't always a tiered system for people's salaries and that seems to be a detriment to the turnover rate. Money attracts people, but how they're treated is why they stay. If people are rewarded based of their merits, they will continue to work hard to be rewarded more. Oftentimes I see hard workers making less than the lazy workers and there is no incentive to work hard. The employee evaluation system seems to be lacking.

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There's nothing positive to say about the job.

    Cons

    - terrible pay
    - rampant nepotism
    - no career path
    - 10%+ paycut 4 years ago
    - no promotions
    - no payrises
    - forced to take holidays in your time off (minimum 5 days at a time)
    - your holidays area stolen if you do not use them - company will not pay you for them but can block you taking holidays at will!
    - expected to work dangerously: 12, 24, 36, 48+ hour shifts not uncommon for Cementers as inadequate cover provided to cover 24hr operations
    - when the above is raised with management, you are told to "manage your hours better"

    Advice to Management

Start looking after your workers who are out breaking their backs offshore for you. Your attitude towards them is utterly disgraceful.

    Pros

Relaxed but professional working atmosphere where you are made to feel welcomed. Work colleagues are generally helpful and give good sound advice.

    Cons

Micro management seems to raise its head every now and then. managers should give staff the autonomy to do the job they were hired to.

    Advice to Management

If you employ someone to do a job, let them get on and do it.
