Pros
90% of the people here are genuinely fun to work with. Best suited for people who don't really need the money and have no desire to work their way up (think college students or retirees). If you can snag a job at one of the branches, you'll have more downtime and won't have to worry about the director micromanaging you since she stays at Main.
Cons
-Admin is generally toxic and passive-aggressive... gaslighting and favoritism are rampant (Main branch). -Turnover has been very high since the new director, who doesn't seem to see the correlation. Positions generally aren't filled once vacated. All departments are perpetually short-staffed. -Nearly impossible to move from part-time to full-time -Main branch is freezing year-round -Customer service is the priority. Be prepared to bend over backwards for The Taxpayers at the expense of any rule -Multiple sex offenders are regulars -If a grown adult pukes on the rug, pees in a chair, or poops in the sink (all real examples), you'll be the one cleaning it up. No daytime custodial staff -Rules and salaries are determined by an elderly board of trustees who don't actually use the library
