I worked at Harry Rosen full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Goos Benefits, really good managers in my store, obviously not all the stores have good managers. Good training.

    Cons

Associates fighting over sales and customers everyday, long hours.

    Advice to Management

The company always praise multi million dollar producers and greedy associates and does not reward the people that dedicate themselves to the store with longer hours than sale associates such as Management, Customer service representative, Tailors, Visual team, Department specialist, they get paid low for so much work they do, they are the lungs of the company. Try to back up your management team more on return policy's, and not only care about the customers point of view. Listen to what they have to say, they are in the store everyday. They know what's going on, and have a better idea of day to day situations in stores than head office in Toronto. Everyone works for the same reasons. Trust your management team and give them more freedom. For example, if they are telling you to change specific things in the store, THERE IS A REASON. Listen more to department specialists regarding reasons to buy certain products. West coast and east coast have completely different markets so pay attention immediately, and implement change quickly, not after multiple years or the changes lose significance. Customer service representatives and visual team deserve more adequate wages, because they help all departments carry out tasks that are not their primary responsibility. quality customer service representatives and visual team are difficult to find and keep because of the heavy workload, and low wage/incentives compared to sales associates.

I worked at Harry Rosen full-time

    Pros

    High quality products, clean environment

    Cons

They use very flowery language to describe management positions to attract younger people, but really it's an underpaid 10-hour shift sales job with an impossible sales quota, in a declining industry. Your job will be not explained to you clearly as it is in their best interest to have you stay for as long as they can, to generate sales. This is a top-down business where you are expected to measure career development by counting the number of decades worked on the sales floor. Despite being in management, your managers will ensure to keep you locked into a position since they also have not advanced in their careers in the past 10 years. Not worth anyone's time.

I worked at Harry Rosen full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Nice office, central location - discounts on clothing

    Cons

    - run like the 50s, little innovation or space for new ideas - upper management cemented in their ways, places for decades - hostile work environment (HQ) - No training

    Advice to Management

Adapt, change, enter the 2020's or get left behind. The place shouldn't be run by people who have worked in the same dept for 25 years.
