Pros

Let me first start off by saying that I do not leave lengthy reviews...I honestly don’t even leave reviews. But I was asked to and I didn’t think it would be fair if I left a fabricated one. Throughout my corporate career I can honestly say this was my least favorite company I have worked for...to put it lightly. If you’re content with below average pay for a heavy work load and high stress environment, at ease with knowing there is very little, if any, opportunity for advancement in your professional career, then this might be a good fit for you. I can’t speak on how things are now, but I do still have contact with a few former coworkers and it doesn’t seem like much, if anything, has changed. I will say, I made great friends with some of my coworkers and there were some awesome people to work with who made the draining days and weeks worth it, but there were also those that were just....not nice, if I am being polite. Regarding the job itself, expectations are high, even from the positions of upper management and other employees in different departments respond to as if they are minuscule in the overall success of the company and as if your part is irrelevant. During my time with the company, there was never enough recognition for the employees that worked in the front office, as they were not only responsible for several tasks, including making the initial contact with potential customers and getting them on a calendar, but in that it was never really recognized how much they took on when other departments “had too much on their own plates” to complete their own tasking. The employees of the front office were not only expected to take on parts of others workloads, but to excel in their own. Which yes, the goal for any employee, at any company, in any position is expected to get the job done, but in my particular experience at Helitech it was never enough. And while I firmly believe in the phrase that there is always room for improvement, I do believe in recognizing your employees as well and in turn that encourages them and makes for a happy employee. Feeling invaluable does not encourage productivity in the least. This was always a big issue. I mean from the beginning I can’t tell you how many times I heard the words “everyone is replaceable” come from our direct supervisor verbatim. While that’s true, how is that really encouraging? How does that statement actually make you do the work and work hard because you love your job, your everyday environment? I think if anything it really just encourages people to do anything to keep a paycheck. How does that make an employee look at you as a manager and encourage a healthy manager-employee relationship? It doesn’t. Not just that, but even during the first few weeks of my employment, I did not feel confident in any training I received and policies were constantly changing. I do recognize this is a relatively small company when looking at the big picture, but I don’t think that dismisses the fact that organization was so flawed. I don’t even know if i can honestly say that anything about the company and it’s procedures and policies were organized in the most efficient way possible. Everyday things were changing and inconsistent and if you weren’t aware - even if you were never made aware - that poorly reflected on you. I genuinely feel that from the beginning, I personally never felt like I was set up for success, but rather for failure. The other issues I had kind of go back to my previous mention about employee appreciation. I have never worked for a company that monitored their employees so close, it was as if I was in middle or high school again. Going to Helitech from a company that not only gave you a company and personal phone -all expenses paid for - but gave you the freedom to look at your phone if you felt you needed to, you were allowed to use the internet, I can say that coming from a company that allowed their employees those freedoms, employees being on their cellphones or using company internet for things not work related were minimal. I think that that was in large part because employees were treated as adults, not as adolescents when you’re in your early, mid, late 20’s, 30’s.... whatever age! One of the biggest issues however, was internal family relations and favoritism was always very evident. Yes, Helitech is a company built on the foundation of family. I respect that and appreciate the value of it, but as the company continues to grow, that becomes an issue. You will find that many of the individuals in manager positions are either part of the Courtney family or have personal relationships with the family. There is a reason why when you fill out any job application you eventually come across the question about how you heard about the company or if you have any relatives employed or previously employed with the company. Even when it comes to asking for references, they specifically say “non-relatives.” I don’t think I need to elaborate on why these questions are asked or the importance that they actually have. It is a conflict of interest and I honestly never witnessed that first hand until I was a Helitech employee. When I left the company, changes were needed. Mostly within the work environment and work culture itself, definitely in other areas, but within the office itself for sure. I hope things have changed, because it has great potential to be an enjoyable place to work. If you want my opinion as a previous employee and the environment I worked in, I would advise against it....but as previously stated...I can’t speak on how things are present day.

Pros

There are no pros to working here

Cons

Super stressful work environment, nothing you do is ever good enough, no one is respected or valued, they will work you to the bone and then get rid of you with no regard to you or your hard work, the owner is clueless as to the disfunction happening below him, unless you are a spineless robot you don’t want to work here

Pros

There are some good employees to work with at Helitech CCD. They have a good engineering team and field operations team

Cons

Executive leadership for CCD division is very poor and lacks integrity. Their will try to justify their fraudulent practices as common industry practices and will make commitments on construction dates and then slide it on customers often.
