Pros

The base salary wasn't bad. There are a few good people stuck there.

Cons

Before considering a job a Hercules, reach out on LinkedIn to one of the dozen people that left in 2014 / 2015 - CFO, CCO, General Counsel, Managing Directors, Principals, HR, Associates, etc. - they will be afraid to be overly honest (for fear of the crazy CEO) but you will be able to read between the lines. The CEO is unstable. He will smile and shake your hand at the interview and then curse you and threaten to fire you along with everyone else. The reputation is so bad that getting a company to take their money is nearly impossible. Promises aren't kept. Incentive comp is a fantasy you wont see.

Pros

The CEO is willing to try out new people and the firm is headquartered in Palo Alto. For individuals looking to move west, want to make a career shift or need a job, Hercules can fulfill this requirement.

Cons

The firm has a difficult reputation in the financial community, has large turnover at all levels except the CEO, and the CEO has a very challenging personality. Parag Shah left the firm, which is a huge blow. The CFO also left, but that is not unusual. Hercules can be a good port in a storm, but otherwise should be avoided at almost all costs.

Is there no shame

Pros

There are no redeeming qualities with management.

Cons

The toxic culture cultivated by the CEO and CIO was unbearable, consistently squeezing small unsophisticated firms for quarterly earnings was quite another. Readily evidenced in a simple Justia doc search. Now we get the pearl of charges recently brought against the current CEO for further evidence of the depths he will drop to for his own self interests, over his employees and shareholders. To say management is complicit would be an understatement. Is there any end?
