Pros

Great people, and the pay and benefits are surprisingly good.

Cons

Hyundai AutoEver America cannot even be found on Glassdoor, and there is a reason. It is the newspaper at the bottom of the Hyundai/Kia birdcage. If you work at HAEA you will undertake a constant, near-impossible effort to keep the lights on. Then your heart will break as you see your work made more difficult or outright sabotaged by executives overseas. The scene will happen nearly daily. There will be no good days at HAEA. Your work life will be one long string of disappointments. Your distant executives at HAEA will not have any incentive for your organization to succeed or for you to make your clients happy. Their only incentive will be to cut costs and maintain the illusion of IT. They will not make this exciting, or fun. They will not share their perverse business strategy with you. They will prop up the illusion that you are there to be excellent. If these were serious people they would enable you to be excellent, but they do not. In my last eight years at Hyundai AutoEver America, I served under six CEOs. This is evidence that no one at the top has any competent clue what to do with Hyundai Autoever America. You will rarely or never get trained on the latest technology, because that costs money. You will see your neighbor company, whose building you occupy (Hyundai Motor America), get better treatment, perks, and team-building meetings that actually appear to be fun. You will not be among them. You will watch them from behind glass. They hate you, by the way. They detest the poor service you are giving them but they, too, are helpless to fix anything. You will feel like a second-class citizen. If you are a contractor (and you probably will be), you will feel like a third-class citizen. HAEA will remind you that you aren’t “one of them” all the time. If HAEA were a caste system (and it is), you will feel like an untouchable. In time you will learn that the only way to maintain your sanity at HAEA will be to stop caring, which most of your co-workers will have already done. This makes everything worse. I will mourn for them daily now that I am gone. God save their souls. Do not work at HAEA unless you are satisfied with outcomes that are below mediocre. If excellence is your game, HAEA is not the place for you.

Pros

I really can not think of a single thing.

Cons

Where do I even begin? There is NO way the 3.5 rating on Glassdoor is remotely accurate. People - Nobody knows anything. Managers are incredibly useless and do not want to take any kind of responsibility or accountability. People that need to be fired are not being fired. Micromanaging at every corner. Absolutely no transparency between anyone. Glaring problems and issues are constantly being ignored and silenced. Because everyone is a Contractor, nobody cares about anything. Be prepared to join meetings where incompetent people try to throw their weight around like it means something but they are absolute idiots and know nothing about the project or the technology. The amount of politics going on here is asinine. HUGE power struggle between the Koreans vs the Indians vs everyone else. If you are Korean, you will be treated differently and expected to work insane hours. Process - What processes? There literally are none. When someone higher up from Korea tells management something is wrong, everyone needs to shift their priorities immediately. It does not matter if it does not make sense. It does not matter if it is 3 AM. You will get calls and texts after work hours without any remorse. They have absolute disregard for any semblance of work-life balance. People are literally working 12+ hours a day because this company is too cheap to hire more people. Everyone is doing at minimum three people's jobs. Meetings will happen at a whim's notice because nobody knows what the priority is, nobody knows what is going on, and because there are zero processes set for anything. Technology - It is an absolute mess. So many things are being routed to certain servers and databases that make no sense. Everyone is in such a rush to implement while also lacking manpower so as a result, everything is done in a haphazard way. Deployments and implementations happen whenever people want it. They try to have a schedule but that always goes out the window because people, again, have zero understanding on what the priorities are. You know what's funny? This is just the tip of the iceberg.
