Pros

They hire you quite immediately

Cons

To be honest look at all the other reviews, and google search the history of this school on news sites like nbc, river-dale post etc. The low review you see here is exactly what you see on those news reports.

Pros

Some pros of working here are that the staff and students are AMAZING! Due to certain conditions the staff is forced to become close and rely on one another. The pay is very fair and there are payment increases. The school is very safe for the children and the teachers, I have never felt in danger here. The mission and goals of the school are commendable and clear cut. Also another thing that I really like is holding our students to very high academic and behavioral expectations.

Cons

Some cons of working here are that there is no teacher and academic support. Conditions that force the staff to band together are the lack of administration and management. The school calendar is not concrete and there are often changes made without staff being notified. There is the constant threat of being fired, you are constantly lied to about the smallest to biggest things. You are treated as an unintelligent individual when it comes to management, if you express your concerns or feelings you may be subject to being scrutinized. Although there are annual pay raises, it may or may not be reflected in your check. Paychecks are a lot of the times short of the correct amount. There is no special education support or coordinator, nurse, full staff of content teachers, gym or physical education course, arts or extra curricular activities, or social worker. The environment just becomes very stressful when subjected to these conditions daily for 9-10 hours.

Pros

-other teachers are very supportive - students, although driven to behave badly by confines of school, are good kids - small class sizes

Cons

- administration is verbally and emotionally abusive to teachers - administration often lies to teachers - administration will force you to pass students who shouldn't - falsifying and manipulating grades - few services for students with IEPs - teachers and administrative personnel coming and going all year - mass firing at end of school year (not me, I left for another school) - will have to cover for teachers who aren't there (even if it's a long term leave, like someone was fired or quit and there is no replacement teacher)
