Low Morale, a lack of leaders

Pros

Amazing product. Maybe a little ahead of its time. The founders of the company are charismatic and make a lot of sense if you listen too them.

Cons

Due to the financial instability at the company, morale is very low. Numerous lay-offs and an almost palpable tension between the two sets of developers responsible for the two core products contribute to this atmosphere. There is a lack of good management in the company, and processes are poorly defined. There is a lot of internal animosity between international divisions and very little teamwork. The general atmosphere in the office is stale. It feels like a library much of the time, no social interactions are going on, people locked into their own little worlds, many spend a good portion of the day with headphones on, as if blocking out the rest of the world. For the company to be successful, it will need better management, and a happier environment. As it stands, the two best things about the company - the product itself and the founders - are not enough to call this a great company.

Pros

Attracted some excellent and talented people, who were great to work with and wanted to take the company forward in exciting ways.

Cons

The 'Old Guard' put pay to any hope of achieving the potential the business had in its sights.

Struggling to mature and get organised

Pros

Relaxed atmosphere. Nice new office. UK management very approachable. Trusted to get work done at a local level. Good location and friendly people.

Cons

Poor communication to staff about the constant changes and reorganisations taking place. HR clueless about the impact the reorganisations have on staff and keep making promises that never materialise. Little or no training on our own products.
