I have been working at Ingenious full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Let me start by saying that Ingenious isn't for everyone. If you want to be an employee who is just a number in a team and not recognised throughout the business then move on. Ingenious is still privately owned, and this brings with it a smaller, entrepreneurial type feeling that isn't available within larger corporate environments. The CEO knows the majority of people by name, and always makes an effort to... engage with employees of all levels- even if it is to say hello whilst making a coffee. This entrepreneurial experience doesn't end with the "feeling". It's ingrained throughout and means that if an employee has any ideas or suggestions, they can voice these and they will be heard. It's a great opportunity for younger employees who would never have this chance in larger organisations. If you work hard and produce results you will be recognised, however you need to ensure you are focusing your efforts in an area that the business needs help with. Help the business to succeed and you will be rewarded in the form of renumeration and social activites. As long as you are able to join Ingenious with an open mind, and do not have fixed ideas as to what a financial services organisation "should" be like, you will enjoy working for them.

    Cons

Not a negative, per se, however there are times when other areas of the business needs help from other departments and you may be asked to complete tasks that aren't necessarily your job. This all feeds into the "everyone working together" and entrepreneurial mentality to ensure the business succeeds.

    Advice to Management

Clearly defined priorities for the business and increased communication from the top down. This is clearly something that has been raised previously, and there is currently a conscious effort by senior management to improve this.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Ingenious full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great team at middle management and below. Great location of office. Freedom to explore commercial opportunities (but in part due to having no clear strategy). Strength in junior levels (although poorly motivated) Decent pay, and promotion opportunities

    Cons

Leadership culture of self importance and preservation, treat employees as commodities. No one understands what the business strategy is. Highly demotivated staff, where everyone is looking for other opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Recognise your employees, their importance and current poor motivation levels. Work on a strategy and communicate it better.

    I worked at Ingenious full-time

    Pros

Positive atmosphere Great employee benefits Good social element Nice office location Interesting products and underlying investee companies. Unique investments

    Cons

Board is unwilling to change or listen and are outdated. Investment decisions by board seem rash and then forced top-down on staff Teams are not the same page Very poor strategy

    Advice to Management

The company is owned by a single share holder who founded the company. My advice to him would be to sell the company and allow a fresh identify and approach to management.

I worked at Ingenious full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Generally high quality work, great people, lovely offices, free breakfast, extensive employee benefits

    Cons

Company is struggling to rid its reputation for tax avoidance which persists over and above the fact the company does a lot of great work and invests in worthwhile projects; unfair pay and lack of transparency; 10 out of 10 board members are male with no sign of this changing
