72% positive business outlook
Pros
Fully remote, amazing culture, team building weeks a few times a year with covered travel and fun activities, Intersect keeps a "startup" feel kept while growing quickly and taking over market share, very concise and strategic business plan that is shared with everyone in the company, charismatic and well informed CEO who cares deeply about his employees, 10 year business outlook is extremely good
Cons
No central office (company is fully remote), hours can differ based on time zone and responsibilities
Pros
Comp is slightly above industry average.
Cons
There’s a huge disconnect between how the company claims to support employees and how it actually operates. Management expects you to operate like a robot and never make mistakes. The high-pressure environment leaves even top performers fearful for their jobs, fueling a culture of distrust toward leadership. HR is mess. They’re ineffective and poorly led, constantly failing to uphold the company values touted by the founding team. Some employees enjoy truly unlimited PTO, while others are overworked and penalized for requesting even a few days off. As an example, the company promotes biannual office closures as a universal benefit, but in reality, only a small subset of non-essential teams are able to participate in those breaks.
Pros
This is a great place to work, especially if you care about the energy transition. Very creative people solving problems at scale. Also, the quarterly offsite are always a great way to really get to know colleagues in a 100% remote company.
Cons
There can be long hours, and sometimes more work than can reasonably be accomplished by the team at hand. Career progression is uncertain, but the pace of growth makes up for it.
Pros
- Amazing synergy between cross functional teams - Free Flow of information between departments, non-existent silos - No micromanagement - Freedom to explore and think outside the box to solve problems - All employees are 100% remote
Cons
- Work is fast paced and new hires could experience a steep learning curve to get in sync with other teams, but there is a robust ecosystem to navigate these challenges - Small headcount as compared to other competitors limits the benefits, but it is improving YoY as the company is growing.
Pros
The pay is alright. I also enjoyed getting to know some of my coworkers, though we were all completely remote.
Cons
Absolutely brutal overtime - all finance team members (and most other employees) were expected to work at least 10 hour days during the week, plus pretty full days on weekends. The long days were justified by the fact that the company's work was important for the planet, and that we were one big happy family. I received little to no training, and was constantly running into issues with not knowing how to do my job (or not even being aware of items that were expected of me). Most close coworkers were also hired very recently.
Pros
Excellent benefits, remote work with quarterly team weeks, and the ability to learn as much as you want.
Cons
A bit of ambiguity in expectations and responsibilities.
Pros
Great benefits (medical, vision, dental). Unlimited PTO
Cons
My experience at Intersect Power started off great, the first month was welcoming, supportive, and genuinely positive. Unfortunately, things changed quickly once the team became comfortable. The culture shifted into one of constant urgency, unclear boundaries, and an overwhelming and stressful workload. One of the biggest issues is the complete lack of respect for personal time. Managers frequently send questions late at night even around 11 p.m. and expect responses first thing the next morning. This has become a normal pattern, not an exception, which makes the job feel like you’re always “on call.” Even though the company advertises unlimited PTO, the reality is very different. You may technically take time off, but your manager will still reach out with questions and expect progress on tasks. It never truly feels like you’re off the clock. On top of this, the workday is filled with back-to-back meetings until 5pm which leaves almost no time to complete deliverables during actual work hours. Yet everything is still expected to be completed by “EOD,” regardless of how unrealistic that is. This forces employees to work excessive overtime hours just to keep up with the tasks they couldn’t finish during the nonstop meeting schedule. Another challenge is the sudden explosion of responsibilities. Out of nowhere, your to-do list becomes endless, and every single item is labeled as “urgent” and needed ASAP. There is little prioritization, and the stress level becomes incredibly high. While Intersect Power works on impressive projects, the internal culture especially on the management side needs significant improvement. The combination of poor work-life boundaries, constant overtime, unrealistic expectations, and pressure to respond around the clock leads to fast burnout. I hope the company takes these issues seriously and invests in creating a healthier, more sustainable work environment.
Pros
- Best senior and executive leadership that you can ask for - Excellent work culture - Great team mates - Amazing benefits and competitive pay scale - Lots and lots of opportunities to learn and grow
Cons
- Can't think of anything
Pros
- Forward thinking company objectives - Knowledgeable team - Team weeks allows you to get to know colleagues in remote environment - Working flexible hours allows responsibilities at home to be balanced with work commitments
Cons
- Evolving workflows. Not necessarily a con but worth noting you will be apart of the refining of processes.
Pros
The culture is very high energy and not risk-averse, which can result in stressful stretches that are highly satisfying and productive. Everyone is aligned on the vision and higher purpose, and these are emphasized during team weeks and all-company meetings to support morale and ensure that everyone's work matters. The benefits package and the fully flexible work structure are well thought out and supportive. There is an underlying message of "you matter" alongside "work hard, play hard" that emphasizes the importance of having a life outside of work.
Cons
Intersect is growing RAPIDLY, which leads to some expected but sometimes frustrating growing pains. It's worth the challenges if you're comfortable trusting the overall processes and working independently to solve problems.
