Pros

JDK is a stand out company in the catering & events in central PA. They have the abilities to produce amazing events. I learned a lot professionally through out my years working here.

Cons

As a potential employee, JDK presents themselves as a wonderful team with a thriving culture in the work place. On the sales side, if you get through their unnecessarily extensive interview process, you'll quickly learn that this is not the case. There are high expectations set on you with minimal pay out. You will work 60+ hour workweeks consistently and will constantly feel underappreciated. In my experience, sales managers have proven to have a lack of knowledge on how to assist their team members and are quick to point the finger at you when difficulties or issues arise. One of their newest core value statements is "curiosity powers pure relationships". Ironically, when using your voice to speak out in curiously towards management decisions they felt threatened which fueled disingenuous relationships amongst team members creating an extremely toxic work environment. I watched this company change and evolve over time and was continuously disappointed & shocked with how unprofessional things are handled. There is a huge lack of transparency not only with employees but now clients. I would not be surprised if these actions lead them to their downfall.

Pros

The only positives were meeting my close friends and gaining experience in this industry but if you want a place that practices blameless problem solving look elsewhere.

Cons

This company will drive you to the border of insanity and then sit back and pretend like they had nothing to do with it. In an industry that can already drive someone to that outcome it’s fairly impressive that they can have such an upper hand in helping. You’ll be painted with this picture of a company that values their employees and that you’ll build a network of family, not a cohort of co-workers. However that couldn’t be further from the truth, that so called family will turn their backs to you as soon as you stand up for yourself and speak your mind. They claim that they’re transparent and that they want you to be curious in asking questions. When asked a question they'll give you a roundabout answer that avoids any sort of transparency. There is absolutely no accountability or help from anyone in management. At first you’ll feel like you can trust them and you’ll want to do everything in your power to ensure success for the company. Until one day they’ll blindside you and show you how little they actually valued you. You’re constantly set-up to fail with unrealistic expectations for not only yourself but for the clients and business they work with. You’ll be given unrealistic goal after goal and in turn they’ll use you as the scapegoat for why things we're not achieved, never once offering to help. Management will never admit that they were at fault, it’s always someone else's.

Pros

You will learn a lot from the company, especially what you deserve and how you should actually be treated. How to speak up and find your voice. What not to do in business practice and how not to take care of your people. JDK starts out great and the culture is something you don’t see in too many places. You’ll feel like you’re stepping into a family that will truly help you grow.

Cons

Until you realize that it’s just a facade for broken and unfilled promises. Management's lack of any sort of actual managerial experience. A corrupt way of not taking care of their people, working them to the bone for a barely cutting it paycheck. A group that claims to be transparent. But will blindside changes that actually hinder the growth of employees with no sort of explanation, all through claiming the complete opposite. At this rate they won’t be able to keep too many quality people because the system is so backwards in how they handle things. If you’re looking for a company that actually values your worth, look elsewhere.
