Pros

Free drinks on fridays. Most people friendly. Dress down policy.

Cons

Ancient tech. Not a place to develop a career, especially for grads. Some people can treat you like a dog.

Pros

Very few. Cool location overlooking Thames to Tower London. Quite laid back and come and go as please.

Cons

Continual flow of people leaving, usually those who have been here for 3-5 years and realise career not moving forward and have had enough of rude intolerable behavior of senior management. Management team in place since day 1 and treat company as own fiefdom and to line their own pockets. No desire to see new staff progress or listen to their idesas. Main product is over 30 years old and written in archaic language - RPG. If lucky might be allowed to work on Java or v v v lucky on Scala...but don't hold your breath unless become one of the favoured chosen few. No meritocracy- all about whether you are liked and will do as management ask All ideas dismissed. No one listens Updates tend to be positive but no reality, no one believes them - deluded

Pros

The people are easily the best part about JHC - everyone at JHC is great to go to the pub with, have lunch with and generally spend all your time with. Expect to make some close friends There is some cool tech being used (Scala/AngularJS) and JHC do agile development. Work/life balance is great, you very rarely have to work beyond the usual 9-5 - if this is important to you, then JHC really is for you

Cons

Know what you're getting into. Much of the code at JHC is written in a language called RPG. RPG was developed by IBM in the 1960s on punch cards, while it has seen improvements in the last 50 years it is not a modern language. If you join JHC as a graduate, you will be expected to learn and use this language full time. Do not expect to be taught java/C#/scala. If you decide to leave JHC and want to remain a developer, your prospects will be limited to either one of JHC's clients; starting from scratch and retraining to another language; or trying to find an RPG job somewhere else (do some googling - there are jobs out there, but not many). Pay and bonuses Expect to be paid on the lower end of the market rate. Bonuses are also low - in the few years I was there I got between £500 - £1,500 after tax. Exams Expect to have to do some banking exams (you only have to pass one) which you will never use again. This might make sense for people dealing with clients to do, but isn't helpful to anyone else.
