Not what it once was

Pros

- Your direct teams are typically made up of very talented people - The products have a great reputation and the underlying technology is very solid for the most part. - The Mac admin community that Jamf has fostered is really great

Cons

Since Jon took over things took a turn for the worse. Ever changing targets, inconsistent messaging, messy go to market planning and arguably most important a collapse in the culture. I joined when Dean was still heading up the company and it genuinely felt very people first. That has gone, with repeated layoffs, toxic management and political infighting that has caused people to fear for their jobs and be afraid to come up with new ideas. Perks constantly being removed even down to things like not being allowed AirPods as standard equipment even if your job role necessitates daily calls. Even with all the employee perk and benefits cuts, the C-Suite still gets paid several million a year where the average employee is lucky to get a pay rise. Execs are also super out of touch. When forcing return to office that no one wanted, we were told that we would have to pay for it ourselves and that the free time we would lose commuting didn't matter because we 'can relax on our commute'. Career progression was non-existent in recent years outside of sales.

Toxic positivity

Pros

Benefits and salary were good.

Cons

When I was there, the company made all the right noises about inclusivity and positivity, but in reality was dominated by mediocre men whose only talent was the ability to talk. Expertise and boundaries were not respected, and these senior managers simply did what they wanted. This was passed down the management chain, through middle managers who were petty and incompetent, and never had our backs.

Pros

Strong product suite with genuine customer need. Many talented colleagues at the contributor level. Also some exceptional managers/directors.

Cons

Senior leadership feels out of its depth. The stock price has collapsed in recent years, which in my view reflects poor strategic decisions and inadequate leadership. A variety of changes from leadership have created an environment of distrust. Jamf is extremely aggressive in enforcing restrictive covenants, even against mid-level employees. After resigning for a new opportunity, I was threatened with legal action that ultimately lead to an offer falling through. The company relies heavily on short-term fixes instead of building a culture that retains people and is no longer the company it once was. A majority of talented employees are no doubt one foot out the door and the ‘sinking ship’ feeling summarised in other reviews feels apt. If I were to review this company purely on public information and ignoring the fact I’d worked there, the signs aren’t much better. A tanking stock price, mass redundancies several times over, the CEO has joined the board of another company at the tail end of last year, and the largest shareholder is now looking to sell. Not a great picture
