A lot of bad management that is downright unprofessional at times. They advertise jobs at a much higher pay rate than they will actually pay. Don’t be surprised to find a job listing for your exact job advertising $3-4 more an hour than you currently make. They don’t reward good employees (monetarily or otherwise) but are happy to take advantage of you. If they want you gone (for whatever reason) they’ll plot and scheme until they can get you fired or make you suffer until you quit. CEO sends out incredibly tone deaf emails about how the company is making record profits but won’t consider pay raises if you’ve had one in the last year, all while constantly raising the prices while quality goes down. Severely lacking HR department, you’re lucky if they reply to you within a week. Prepare for constant calls from unhappy customers who can’t get a hold of customer service. Corporate doesn’t work on the weekends or holidays (the busiest times in retail - aka more prone to mistakes), so even the most pressing matters have to wait until Monday - which usually makes the problem even worse and more clean up for you, and unhappy customers who have to just wait it out. Online customers are prioritized, online business is prioritized, but they insist on opening ten new stores a year they don’t have the structure to support properly, and will have you packing up your inventory for online orders all day. If you end up with a good manager, this can be a wonderful job despite the aforementioned. It can be a fun environment with the right team. Since they do pay commission, the wrong team will ruin the culture and mood of the store, and hurt your paycheck with aggressive selling and stealing sales. Managers don’t make individual commissions but sometimes steal sales anyway, or decide to give the sales to their favorites. If you end up with a bad manager, move on. The pay is lackluster for selling such luxury items (up to $2600). The growth opportunity is just not there, don’t be fooled by the beautiful clothes.
