Pros

None compared to previous employers.

Cons

I had to fight to receive mileage reimbursement when driving 70 miles RT to a job site. Management didn’t want to train. Horrible reputation in the subcontractor world. HR is NOT onsite so getting any help or direction is near impossible.

Pros

Employees are a great group of people! Always willing to help support each other's projects, good rapport, camaraderie, etc. Company maintained a decent backlog.

Cons

Ownership doesn't respect it's employees. Low pay, poor benefits, extremely long hours, encouraged to take as much from the subcontractors as possible, etc.

Pros

The work environment was at times very social and engaging. Learning from superintendents was a huge help and provided great knowledge in the field of construction. School of hard knocks for entry level individuals looking to learn commercial construction. Office staff was always helpful and nice.

Cons

The company does not seem to care about the employees very much. Throughout my career, I noticed most employees grew more and more frustrated as the years progressed. The company does not pay for most of your medical insurance. You will be paying for much of this each paycheck. The company does not do any 401k matching like most reputable general contractors. You will work long hours and weekends only to see that managers expect that as the norm in the company. Reviews were never done and raises were scarce, even though majority of the projects performed well. Upper management provides favoritism to those tied to that person (ie family or friend relation). I had encountered many instances where managers would throw me under the buss. I saw how one of the hardest working managers went from promoting the company and being enthusiastic and happy to slowly dreading coming in each work day. This individual was never valued or compensated for the extra effort that was performed for each project. Pay-scale was lower than other general contractors. It is expected that all employees care greatly about the company and work extra to ensure maximum profitability. This is expected with no reward. No clear structure on career growth. No car allowance.
