They are NOT a tech company

Pros

They seem to be making money (for now). If you're in sales you'll probably have a great time. You're the only department that sees any bonuses, any attention or is deemed to have any worth to the company.

Cons

Lack of transparency from the executives. If you ask "tough" questions of them they'll either fire you, or, redirect you to your manager. If the CEO of the company doesn't know the answer to some aspect of the operation of the company, then middle managers are definitely not going to know. The executives play the employees for fools. They think that people can't see through their waffling and sometimes just outright incorrect statements. They don't know what it takes to run a technology company. They say it themselves multiple times, they are a sales company. They don't seem to know or care about what goes into making a successful technology organisation or what makes engineers tick. They just want to have the next thing to sell. They don't care about support or engineering. Thousands of sales people will be flown from all over the world to Florida for week long sales meetings. But engineering can't get a few hundred dollars to have an in-person meet up.

Shocking

Pros

- Commission can be good, - Equity grants (although Vests for 4 Years) and then worthless until they go on the stock market.

Cons

- Micromanaged - you have to fill out about 10 excel spreadsheets a day and have 3 meetings a day with your manager. - Always asking for information on deals/pipeline rather than using the CRM. - Unrealistic targets sometimes and nobody wants to hear any reasons why. - Customer base are not happy, literally most of the customers have a negative view on the company and contracts. - Pay is not inline with other competitors in the market.

Datto good, Kaseya bad.

Pros

The legacy Datto team were not perfect (who is?) but the support, trust and empowerment were great. People would listen to input, and react accordingly. Town Halls were meaningful, and shared meaningful information. Benefits both large and small were valued. If you are ever in the market for some of the best people around, don't think twice - hire anyone from the legacy Datto Supply Chain group - they won't let you down!

Cons

Since Kaseya took over, the experience of working there plummeted. Benefits were removed, often without notice. The culture was worse than something that grows on out-of-date yoghurt. Finance in Miami and in Ireland are an absolute mess, and seem to actively work to stop the company from functioning, and some of their activities are openly illegal. The laughable Town Halls are an hour of Fred the Head ranting and gibbering about how much he loves Microsoft, and how every single quarter is better than the last, but with no facts or figures to back it up. He told us we were getting the Kaseya name over "one of the most iconic stadiums in the world" - turned out it wasn't even the most iconic stadium in Miami! The irony of it only being available because the previous name over the door was for a company that went bust was not lost on us. Datto Europe lost their credit limits with their largest suppliers due to late filing of accounts. Processes that had worked before and supported international tax regimes were changed on a whim, and made ever more complex. Regulatory Compliance requirements were, and still are, being given little attention. In short, Kaseya care only about what happens in Miami, and nothing else. It's a real shame, as Datto was great to work for, and Kaseya really isn't.
