    I worked at Kitchen Magic

    Pros

No pros, maybe besides paid lunches that’s about it.

    Cons

A lot of cons, not a place where you seek advancement. Ownership and management very questionable. Would not consider having a career with this company. Managers have no idea about the company, they hire to make themselves look good.

    Advice to Management

There is nothing you can say because they hire people who don’t know what they’re doing and do not respect anybody that comes in and provides a good work ethic. STAY AWAY FROM COMPANY

    Pros

    Well structured company, good support

    Cons

New to Hartford/Springfield Market. Unable to generate enough leads for a full time Consultant.

I worked at Kitchen Magic full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Their install contractors are not employees; yet they are generally quite competent. They stand by their product.

    Cons

They push a one-call close, with fake discounts and price drops. Pricing is very high, but salesmen are able to lower costs up to more reasonable 30 percent and still make small commission. Most of the training emphasizes Probably better than many other in-house sales jobs, but like so many others, they consider sales people expendable, and the low end of the totem pole.

I have been working at Kitchen Magic part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent commission if you are given good leads. Home-cooked meals once a month for a meeting at HQ.

    Cons

No base pay, and the company picks and chooses who gets rembursed for tolls, sometimes amounting to $14 each. Favoritism in regards to the leads. You don't get paid unless you sell, so leads matter. Some days only one or two leads. Driving all over the place.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating people like they are beneath you. Traet your sales reps fairly and based on abillity when assinging leads. Don't expect us to drive all over the place for nothing. Don't promise more work then you give.

I worked at Kitchen Magic full-time

    Pros

There have been some interesting improvements in employee involvement lately. If you smoke, you get plenty of time to do so. Yearly parties with gift raffles.

    Cons

Owners inherited company and have no real world experience. They talk down to their employees and are teaching tjeir next successive generation to be even more obnoxious. Also, they respond more to flattery than they do to hard work. If you're the kind of person who doesn't mind giving false flattery and showing up for 40 hours a week just to collect a check, this place is for you. BTW, don't expect to get paid for snow...

I have been working at Kitchen Magic full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This is a family owned business, that is a leader in the industry of Refacing cabinets. (also new cabinetry). The owners REALLY care about their product and the customers that hire us to complete their projects. Quality of the work is great, customer feedback is almost always positive.

    Cons

Cannot really think of a negative. From a Sales side, you can work long hours and evenings... but that is what this industry is all about. If you are good, you will make good money.

    Advice to Management

You all have done everything you said you would do and are a pleasure to work for.

I have been working at Kitchen Magic full-time

    Pros

The owners and management are so incompetent that you can essentially do whatever you want (not that that's a good thing). Occasionally the owners buy lunch or dinner for the office staff or provide free t-shirts or ice cream. Lots of smoke breaks. A handful of excellent employees who essentially keep the company running.

    Cons

Horribly out of date policies. "Family owned" by a family who has no actual business experience. Pay is very low for the job. They will hire 2 or 3 young inexperienced kids for $10 an hour to do a job poorly rather than hire 1 person for a respectable salary to do a job properly. Company policies make it impossible to serve the customer, and employees are forced to lie and apologize to defend the "brand". Outdated technology....

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees. Try to match industry standard compensation for positions. Add direct deposit and improve employee benefits. Increase accountability. Solve problems rather than just brushing them under the rug.
