I worked at Konecranes full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    job security and company van

    Cons

Long unpredictable hours, pressure to do overtime and night shifts, on call, long hours, minimal support from office, all techs are undervalued, “us and them” attitude towards office and tech staff, stressful, minimal training provided, poor pay, high turn over of staff

    Advice to Management

Value your employees, invest in training and you might be able to hold on to staff better Also wage is behind most other competitor businesses

I have been working at Konecranes full-time

    Pros

Plenty of overtime available, personal use on company van, limited personal use on company mobile, large company so job is relatively secure.

    Cons

Any career advancements go to managers families. Long hours, low basic wage, constantly sourcing parts due to planning failures, 24 hour call out regularly, work in lots of different uncomfortable environments (hot, cold, rain etc), safety goes out the window when a job needs to be completed. No thank you's or rewards, even when the company is doing financially well, yet managers get bonuses. No work life balance as...

    I worked at Konecranes

    Pros

Non the company employes unqaulified people gives them 4 to 5 days training puts them in a van to carry out inspections / service

    Cons

Having worked for them in various locations including New Zealand, America and the UK I found their main interest is money. The lower middle management are picked not for their hands on experience and knowledge so can offer no technical support to the engineers. Training is kept to a minimum how can you put out an "engineer" on a crane after 4 days training.

    Advice to Management

Instead of looking at the bottom line look at the service you offer you own most of the market. Put experienced people in the relevant positions to support engineers on the ground.

I have been working at Konecranes full-time for more than a year

      Pros

They are prepared to spend lots of time/money in new IT systems but not in there resources of peoples times, Excellent record in safety.

      Cons

As previous people have noted the Finnish culture/ way of doing things does not suit every country & they need to let go of their ultimate control of everything. There is low morale in this company and I will be glad to leave next year.

      Advice to Management

Listen to employees and don't be afraid in Finland to stand up for what you believe in. Give employees enough resource to do their jobs properly and get some much needed job satisfaction.

I worked at Konecranes full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Growth-minded, industry-leading company, with diverse offering, providing stable growth and work for employees who get to see so many different industries in the course of their work. Generally, managers value hard work and field experience over scholastic degrees, giving the opportunity for capable employees to work up in the company. Having worked with upper management, they have a clear vision for driving the business...

        Cons

Touts it's decent benefits and industry resources as reasons to under-pay employees. Since managers value field experience over scholastic degrees they tend to dismiss technical degrees in favor of those who have worked up through the company, especially in the service group and in operations. Upper management visions get lost in middle management. I.E. servant leadership, investing in people, etc. With recent centralization...

        Advice to Management

Work more to promote a better company culture. Upper management is right on track with what employees want, but it gets lots in middle management.
