Pros

Got paid on time and enjoyed some of the shenanigans. Plenty of fresh air and good weather!

Cons

Far too much work to be done,which is to say we were understaffed, and deliberately so. Salary was not commensurate with the amount of work expected, and promises that were made at interview were not honoured. Best avoided, I would say, as there are much better employers out there.

I am very sorry to read your comments. It is true that summer schools require hard work and it is not for everyone. However, we do not deliberately understaff our centres. We are subject to compliance both legal and from the accreditation body. There are isolated instances when we lose a staff member or two and cannot replace immediately, requiring the team to pitch in and ensure the safety of our students, especially as they are minors. I believe our salaries are similar to competitors but it is regrettable that you were made promises at interview that were not kept. As the person responsible for the summer schools programme, I have personally reviewed the interview questions, along with what is actually offered, so we are not guilty of that in the future. We wish you well for the future.

Pros

Most colleagues are very polite and welcoming. Students are absolutely lovely to work with. All facilities are wonderful.

Cons

Management show no care or consideration for staff. Long and anti-social hours. Lack of respect or encouragement from management.

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry your rating has indicated an overall negative experience. Our whole staff and student experience has been re-examined and we hope that once the pandemic brings students back in their droves, we will be able to offer an improved experience for staff. It is fair to say that the industry does rely on staff to work long and anti-social hours, and this is usually reflected at interview and in our contracts. We wish you luck in the future.
