      Great coworkers and benefits, but poor leadership and questionable long-term survival

      Pros

      I was never overloaded with work, had coworkers who cared about the mission, and the benefits were decent. Lexia was a great place to work until it became part of Cambium.

      Cons

      The senior managers at Lexia are out of their depth. The company scaled quickly but didn't replace senior managers with people who know how to lead a large company. Past Lexia, at the Cambium level, it is even worse. The current CEO shows up occasionally in all-hands meetings and literally reads from a script, then spends a lot of time posting on LinkedIn about how she's a top CEO. The private equity firm that owns Cambium does what PV firms do - squeeze companies for money until they finally die. This is happening with Lexia now: multiple rounds of layoffs, entire products that are no longer supported, a company culture that expects everyone to always be happy and excited about everything and never push back. It was sad to watch it all fall apart. Relieved I'm no longer in the chaos.

      Smart coworkers but terrible senior leadership

      Smart and mission-driven coworkers Decent PTO

      Cons

      Senior leadership is terrible. The speed at which they change direction/goals will give you whiplash. They honestly don’t care about their teams. Promotions work on favouritism only. It’s sad because Lexia used to be amazing but the leadership that’s come in over the past 1-3 years is pathetic. They will be the reason Lexia tanks or is acquired.

      Lexia is a battlefield

      Work from home is the only reason I stayed.

      Cons

      True burnout is rarely the result of a long to-do list; it is the exhaustion of a soul that has spent too much time in survival mode. Lexia employees are in survival mode. People don’t burn out simply from the work they do; they burn out from leaders who transform every office, meeting, and email into a battlefield.
