Pros

Honestly, certain members of the team were all that made my time at Lightbox worthwhile. Despite staff turnover being incredibly high, whilst I was there, Lightbox were for some reason really good at attracting very talented, kind and hardworking people. Even in what I found to be a toxic working environment, certain team members always kept a positive attitude and mindset which on some of the hardest days certainly helped me out.

Cons

• If transparency is what you're looking for, this isn't the place. All stories of success are short-lived and 'optimised' to sound more appealing to the outside world • Staff are under-appreciated, underpaid but consistently overworked • More attention is given to the idea of 'team culture' then the actual consideration for how the team are feeling. Staff wellbeing is nonexistent, which isn't helped by the missing HR presence (when I was there at least) • I found the attitude and environment to be built on and around the idea of 'banter' which on multiple occasions left me feeling uncomfortable, from both direct and indirect comments. I personally feel that this workplace is not equipped to be inclusive and has failed, out of ignorance, to embrace the diverse world we now live in. Internal comments are sometimes inappropriate and inconsiderate to the varying beliefs of individuals, whether that be to do with politics, sexuality and/or race. • Lack of clarity, direction and organisation • There also seems to be an unprofessional approach to when employees depart the company. In my time, those who left weren't given as much as a goodbye and later find out from ex-colleagues that they have been bad-mouthed in the workplace and amongst clients, for no apparent reason. • A deeply scarring and uncomfortable experience

Delusional Management

Pros

The staff during my time were hard-working and extremely talented. They maintain a positive attitude despite the issues at the company. I’m grateful to have worked with such a great team and did learn a lot during my time at Lightbox thanks to these people.

Cons

Do not believe the constant lies and regular pep talks leading you to believe this agency is going places. The focus on creating high-quality truly bespoke websites has long gone. Part of the reason behind leaving Lightbox was no longer wanted to be associated with projects which often ended up being delayed and having issues following launch, due to promises made by the management team. Do not waste your time here however promising the company looks from the outside.

Pros

The team during my time at Lightbox, the ones stuck in the trenches anyway, were amazing. High staff turnover means this does change rapidly though. Swanky office! Not sure on cost but money could have been spent elsewhere.

Cons

Seeing the other review here motivated me to post. Sadly the company care only for revenue in a bid to become Birminghams "largest" agency, with staff welfare and satisfaction being their lowest priority. You will rarely actually ever get to be a part of delivering a complete project working at Lightbox.

Thank you for the feedback. This platform is here to provide honest feedback to help the digital community, we have fully investigated all communications and feel much of this review is extremely unfair. We had (and still have) dedicated independent HR support and provide all of the usual benefits competitor agencies do (and more). I'm not sure where your information regarding threatening someone with legal action came from, it is simply untrue. That said, all feedback is appreciated, we will sit up and listen and strive to continually improve.
