"Best Team ever" brainwash

Pros

- Good training and enough time for adaptation - Team gathering event all paid for although some staff still had to work during the event; - Nice office, located centrally near Waterloo; - WeWork offices with free monday breakfast and a weekly changing menu ; - Free tap with unlimited beers and ciders every day after 3pm!! - Barista, hot drinks machines and biscuits on each floor; - Fun weekly events organised by young and friendly WeWork community managers such as pub quizes, halloween and christmas parties, etc. - Company foudners are close to staff so you can easily chat to them when they visit the office;

Cons

Company with a very limited budget, hence explains the below market salary of Sales and Post sales staff, ranging betweek 28K and 30K MAX, but great for first time experience. Newcomers are brainwashed with "Best team ever" crap - I've worked in teams which were actually fun. Here, however, success is little celebrated, teams from different departments don't talk to each other, to wonder if they know each other's names... Employees are treated like commodities when they are terminated without any reason and HR or management writes a communication in the lines of "it didn't work out". It only takes a few hours to realise that the job and the career opportunities you were promised are very different from the reality. There are people who have worked for 2 years and have not progressed to any other level. Limited growth opportunities given the Flat Organization Structure, as the next role up is Managerial, already taken by your manager. Constant pressure put on different teams to do more work: marketing, operations, sales, success team . One must wear different hats and handle work amounts that need to be covered by 2 addditional team members, but the company saves on new staff and, instead, constantly requires higher performance, more results, faster - putting employees under pressure and makes them stay after 6pm to finish work (overtime not paid, of course). Doesn't sound like a good work/life balance to me. Not to mention employees monitoring each other's arrival and departure time, adding unnecessary comments when you're not sharp on time. Obsessive workaholism put in place as no one takes regular morning and afternoon breaks, making you feel bad for taking one while no one moves. No music and dead silence in the office - you need to whisper to talk to your colleague otherwise you'll be "shuuuush"ed - like in a school library. Pension scheme works as: 3% paid by employer, 5% paid by employee. I've worked in firms where 5% was covered by employer. Last but not least, watch out for favouritism. Join at your own risk as there is no job security.

It saddens us to read the feedback because our team are at the centre of everything we do but we'll always have room for improvement.
