Linamar has many different plants, and unfortunately, operations and expectations can vary significantly between them. There does not appear to be a consistent level of standardization across all facilities.
For example, in plants such as Camcore, PowerCore, and Comtech, engineers and automation personnel generally remain focused on their designated roles and responsibilities. However, in some other plants like LPC, Roctel, and Linergy, management often expects automation staff and engineers to also operate machines on the production floor, while still being responsible for completing their primary engineering and automation duties.
In some cases, under the name of cost saving, employees become overworked and eventually experience burnout, which also contributes to higher turnover rates. Another concern is that certain plants may discourage or delay internal transfers to better facilities, often creating unnecessary corporate politics around movement between plants.
Because of this, choosing the right plant is extremely important when applying to Linamar. The work culture, management style, and expectations can vary significantly from one facility to another. A good plant can provide strong learning opportunities and career growth, while the wrong environment can quickly become overwhelming.
