• No clear career progression or personal development structure (such as quarterly or biannual reviews) to support your professional growth.
• Same goes for learning, very much a start-up mentality to learn on the job, or put a lot of effort into pushing for a short course.
• Poor management, no transparency in communications & overall lack of trust in senior management.
• Extreme favouritism towards individuals, with no regards to other, mostly female, individuals. The company unfortunately seems to be heading towards an old boys club.
• Too many layers of internal politics, senior management have a hidden agenda that is never shared with employees and are secretive about certain issues.
• Poor salary, especially taking into account the level of clients and overall business performance.
• Slight lack of culture, I personally had to push for social events or work drinks.
• Working overtime is a standard, finishing on time is the exception, when it should really be the other way around.
• Work-life balance was therefore not great, including working late (occasionally until 10pm) in order to meet deadlines & clients’ expectations.
