Pros

A lot of hands on experience that will good on your resume when you inevitably apply to other jobs.

Cons

Working at Look Media wrecked havoc on my personal life and mental well-being. Most of the scheduled activations happen during the weekend, which means you are expected work almost every single weekend. BAs have access to your personal cell (the uptick in your phone bill is not compensated by LM) and I fielded texts and calls at 11pm on weeknights and 6am on Saturdays. There are no benefits other than what you are legally obliged to (company is too small to offer health insurance or WageWorks) and yet management expects you to consistently sacrifice your personal time in exchange for nothing in return. Despite being paid a non-exempt salary, I was not paid overtime and was instead given PTO, which would be illegal in NYS if this company was larger. Brand ambassadors got paid a higher hourly wage than what I made and yet the CEO plays dumb about mine and my co-workers' wages being “what you’re worth.” Denying employees a salary that is commensurate with the amount of responsibility and labor they put in based on how far they are in their career/how many years out of college they are is shortsighted and a bad business practice. The CEO speaks often of wanting to hire intelligent employees but anyone with an iota of intelligence quickly sees through the borderline unfair labor practices used at Look Media. Additionally many tasks are insanely boring (ie spending 3 consecutive business days calling grocery stores on your personal cell phone) and a complete waste of time. At the end of the day, this job would be so much more bearable if there was any form of support in the office. Stressful jobs can be mitigated by great company culture, but everyone who works here is miserable. And good work will go unnoticed - the CEO is completely out of touch with the day to day operations of the company. His responses to the reviews on here just exemplify how he spends his time during the day. Working here is a thankless and unfulfilling job and a little bit of respect and acknowledgement from your boss would go a long way. The Look Media office is small, dusty, and cramped. No one who works at Look Media enjoys being there. Some of this could be easily remedied (see benefits and wages). And lastly, turnover rate here is high in part because, well, who is passionate about grocery store demos?

Pros

They’ll throw a decent salary promising a structured commission.

Cons

The CEO is emotionally attached to a “Fractional CRO” that doesn’t do much for him or his company. Whatever he pays him for, he could do himself or hire someone full-time to actually put real processes in place and not expect his employees to learn from reading off Google sheets. And that CRO? Completely TOXIC and insanely rude and unprofessional. I was harassed several times over the phone and through emails with him and the CEO. The CEO is a paranoid individual and will practice his “at-will” even during your first few weeks of ramp, and WILL completely blindside and fire you for absolutely no reason. There is a right way to do things, and there are wrong ways. What I experienced was absolutely WRONG. Knowing that I was laid off just a few months prior by a tech company. This has all led to extreme anxiety, depression, and losing my life partner. Things haven't been much better since. (boo-hoo, right?) DO believe the fake reviews and the blatant and ridiculous responses Michael makes in past ones. Go back and see. His character says it all. He even signs his name at the end. ZERO benefits. That's right. NO health. NO dental. Nothing. Only a promise you'll get a 401K option after 12 months. ** Note to individuals seeking new opportunities: There are too many companies out there that are willing to take care of their employees and not burn them out and not treat them as a quick transaction. Be patient and you will find something that aligns with your morals.

This is a real review. This person lasted 6 weeks before they were let go. You can read what they wrote, and how they characterized their experience, and consider if it seems like someone you'd want on your team. (Note that since this person left, we have added 401k and health & dental insurance.)

Pros

If you want to collect a check for fulfilling a task, this is a place for you!

Cons

For the management, the people are absolute garbage human beings. The CEO is incompetent, toxic, and manipulative. It's hard to believe that someone so paranoid could run this business, Morale is a terrible and job descriptions don't match the work involved. Not to mention that salaries are offensively, pathetically low. Job seekers, seek other companies.

It’s unfortunate this ex-employee had a negative experience. This person did a good job when working. However, this person also skipped weeks of work without any communication, something they’d get fired for anywhere else, and we held their position, and provided lots of support and coaching. Regarding morale, we have people who have been here for 3, 4, 5, and 10+ years. I don’t think they’d stick around so long if the job was unclear, salary low and they were managed by ‘garbage humans’.
