Pros

Startup vibe, meaningful work, great managers with a long term focus. There was emphasis on implementing the best long term solution at every step (no dirty hacks). Technical debt was minimal. The product was constantly progressing at a steady pace. There is a no-blame culture; focus is on how to move forward. Employees there were good, idealistic people who shared a vision to improve society.

Cons

Managers were sometimes rigid about some things.

Pros

The staff at Mathspace are all passionate about maths, education and technology. The mission at Mathspace, "To be the right help at the right time for every student" guides every decision made. The flat hierarchy means that the experts in all different areas of the business take the time to give their insight into decisions for any and all staff that need their help, but individuals are given autonomy to make important decisions themselves. Regular all-hands meetings are a chance for every staff member, globally, to feed in to the company's direction and strategy.

Cons

The team is spread globally which means you can sometimes be waiting some time to get feedback or a response from a colleague.

Pros

Mathspace is a dynamic and fast-growing edtech company, and you should totally come work with us! The challenges we face are diverse and changing every day, so it's never boring - we bring a staggering number of skills and technology together all in one place, and it ends up being quite exciting. We have employees, teacher users, and student users from all over the world, and work continuously with them to solve the hard problems and work towards a completely satisfying service. Employees develop a good sense of what needs to be done, when, and how, and supported by everyone on all the different teams we have found a way to move things in the right direction. Fundamentally *you* choose where you want to work and apply the skills you want to hone - and by the end you've taken part in something really amazing and made it your own. People here are very passionate, selfless, and truly believe in what we're doing. It's a good feeling, using our powers for good! Work is super flexible and everyone here is cooool

Cons

Every successful startup has growing pains when transitioning into an established business, especially so for tech companies. We are all still figuring out how to make that transition. If you want to get told exactly what to do by your middle management and only work on clearly defined tasks then this is probably not the place for you.
