Pros

Great offices, free breakfast, friendly atmosphere.

Cons

Since being acquired by Vista Equity Partners, there is a hiring freeze in London and New York as they look to hire on the cheap in Pune(India) and graduates in Chicago. Salary given and the bumps during the year are low. Two huge redundancy layoff's in the space of 4 years. Tech stack isnt great and the code is even worse.

Pros

Good social environment - felt very well connected with most colleagues, even if I didn't come across them through work. Everyone is very approachable (even devs!) right up to CEO. Good pay Good bonuses, though replaced with equity release scheme, now completed, which turned out better - I never dreamt it would pay out.

Cons

No structured training or development Appraisals felt like box ticking exercises Difficult to get new methodologies and thinking considered or accepted Not truly global, far too US centric, which goes against their ambition of breaking into new markets. For the time I was employed at DDS, now Mediaocean, I've seen a great number of changes. DDS needed a shakeup, which came in the form of a merger with MediaBank. Having settled into a good, exciting company to work for, they've now been acquired by Vista Equity Partners. What that will bring only time will tell.

We work hard to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to mix with colleagues both socially and professionally so it’s good to know that is reaping benefits. Obviously disappointed that the appraisals felt like box ticking. This can be down to different management styles and sounds like some training would be in order.Thank you for the feedback.

Mediaocean is living on its past legacy

Pros

1. Work life balance can be okay at times. 2. They do partner with the global agencies, so people in the industry know about the Mediaocean brand, but as a tech player they are past their prime. 3. Not so bad place to learn dev and product ops 101, although the app suite is old, clunky and there is A LOT of legacy tech. 4. Very few, but some smart folks across teams.

Cons

1. Across All Teams - A large number of employees have been at the company for a REALLY long time. There is nothing wrong with this, but there are SOME SERIOUS ego clashes. 2. Product - Classic feature factory. Keep pushing stuff until something sticks. There is no roadmap - agencies treat the company as their custom dev shop. No data to do pre or post release analysis. 3. Dev/QA - It is a platform team, so if you are delivering something that touches 5 teams - good luck with that. Every team is so siloed that they will put their hands up if something is outside their scope. 4. PMM - They only maintain feature delivery decks and don't have a clue of how the product works. 4. CS/CX/Rest of the departments - They fight internally for their features and if something breaks, product and dev is pushed under the bus.
