Pros

Good benefits, good support for securities exams

Cons

This company speaks a good game and then does the polar opposite. Makes lots of acquisitions and new hires then removes people a few months later with no explanation. Senior management uses a bully tactic with communication that is not professional. They seemingly do not care about the client experience and the favoritism with office politics is among the worst I’ve experienced. Broad changes are implemented with little to no reasoning and staff is left to clean up the aftermath and still take care of clients. If client service is truly important to you, this is not a good fit. No feedback or annual reviews of COL raises. Negotiate upfront because that’s all you may get. Commission scheduled is biased and not conducive for all employees.

Pros

Executives really do take the time to get to know you and treat you with respect. That’s about it.

Cons

This wealth management firm is acquiring smaller firms at a pace it can’t keep up with. Mercer Advisors may talk a good talk to the owners of these firms they are acquiring, but it’s a mess. Many departments are constantly overworked with projects just trying to keep up. It gets exhausting. They refuse to give reasonable salary increases to their tenured employees, lay off employees from newly acquired firms to cut costs. The kicker is, they bring in new employees making a dramatically larger salary than someone who has been with the company for years.
